how to sort dimensions threads- a tip for you

Post by *barb* »

oksay, so i was pulling my hair out trying to sort out some threads in a dimensions kits..you know the non sorted bundled together ones. :x

Then, I had an idea. If I converted the dimensions number to the DMC number, i could match them against my DMC threads so i would have a colour to look at.

So I found this on line..it has dimensions to dmc and anchor
http://www.doodle-head.com/xs/tools/dim ... rsion.html" target="_blank

located the dimensions number..found the corresponding DNC number and used my DMC threads ( i guess i could have used my DMC colour chart instead) to match them and it was done in half the time it usually takes me.

so thought i would share!

happy quicker sorting!

Great thinking Barb and the link to the conversion charts will help
the lass who is doing the deer kit sort out if they have put in the right colour.

I often check Dimensions colours against my DMC threads, especially when there are several colours very similar.

I hate buying kits where the thread is not pre-sorted. I started a new project last week and while pulling one color out of the mess I said "that's 434". I thought it funny that I wasn't seeing the color as brown but as the DMC number instead.

I do the same sometimes, like DMC 12305 is actually very similar to Anchor's 305.
