Great job wiu the ornaments. What did you use for the backing? It looks thicker than cardboard. Is it wood?

:applesauce: :applesauce: They look terrific!! I love how you finished them with the gold "braid" and what looks like wood or foamcore backing....this is much more unique than framing them. They are going to look great on the tree

Funny that you ask! I had originally intended to "frame" them in wooden curtain rings, but when I looked at Home Depot, the rings were a little too small (and would have ended up covering part of the cross-stitching). I then went to JoAnn Fabrics to search for something else and by chance found little ornament-shaped wooden pieces for 79 cents each. :D

Thank you! I hope you don't mind me copying you. First I bought the book (which I got in the mail on sat) and now I'm stealing your finishing too! Try to be flattered ;) it looks great! Thank you for your ideas!

Haha, awesome! I'm flattered. I stitched them on 18-count aida. I used gold metallic cord to hang them. The braided stuff around the characters is actually ribbon --- I recommend buying it by the yard (rather than prepackaged) so that you can play with it to make sure that it will be able to handle wrapping around in a circle without buckling on itself. (Not sure if that makes sense.)

You did a wonderful job! So often the finishing is the most difficult part but yours looks amazing.

Yay! You should take a picture of your ornaments when they are up on your tree!
