Donna's W.I.P.s

Post by donlou »

Wow, it has been so long since I was on here that I can't even find my old thread  . I now have finished uni. so have much more time not only to stitch but also to update on here whereas I only had time before to only look at everybody's beautiful work. I thought I would start this thread by showing what I have been working on this year and my current christmas projects. I have also updated my blog.

Some 2010 projects:

Some cards for my Sister and her boyfriend's respective birthdays:

And for Christmas I am making them mousemats containing the following pics:

My sister is a huge Twilight fan:

And I am currently working on The Stig for her boyfriend who loves the programme Top Gear:

Image

And finally my morning project which is a bookmark of biscuit, the dog in the Popcorn range:

Image

This has turned out a very long post but for my main projects I have decided to work on the rotation system outlined in my signature. I am currently working on a fractal bookmark from XS collectables but will post a picture when I have done a significant amount because I am focussing on Christmas gifts for the minute. Thanks for reading, Happy Stitching everybody!!

Very lovely projects. I love them all. Especially Tigger. lol. So glad that you can get more time to be on the forums. My time on the forums is usually at work on my cell phone. Shhh don't tell. lol.

Hi everybody, I have almost finished The Stig for my sisters partner, I am just missing one colour and am awaiting it in the post. There are therefore just a few patches of missing stitches:

Image

I have also finished the project I am working on in the mornings, I was a little disappointed as when I went to make it up as per the given instructions, it didn't really work or I couldn't make it work. The top of the bookmark frayed out perfectly but when i came to the bottom, it wouldn't fray properly and started to buckle the fabric so excuse the bottom fraying attempt

Progress minus the backstitching:

And the finished article:

My next morning project is the 'cozy christmas' Lizze Kate freebie. When I have a bit of a progress report I will post a picture.

Thanks everyone, here are my latest updates:

The Stig and Twilight pictures have been mounted into their mousemats:

Image

My next christmas project is a blackwork samurai and geisha from Crossstitcher magazine. This is intended to be a gift for my father. I have changed the colouring from shades of blue to red to match the decor of his living room. It is stitched with Madeira silks and I am using some 28ct evenweave from the Crafty Kitten website. This is my first time using hand-dyed fabric and I  it. It seems far too good for me to use and I had enough left to be able to use myself. Here it is so far:

Image

And these projects are what I have been working on in the mornings (I stitch for an hour every morning in bed  before getting up). The bottom one is a freebie from the Lizzie Kate website and is my first time attaching charms to a project. The pattern asked for a silver heart but I thought the bells were more christmassy. I really enjoyed sewing these as they were nice and quick but look really good:
