What a lovely idea. My turn.

Favorite Colors
Earthy colors...browns, rusty oranges. Love fall colors. I'm also a lover of blue.

Threads
I've only worked with DMC and some anchor. I've used some DMC metallic gold but that was long ago. I have some silks in my current project and they are lovely. I am anxious to start that area to test them out.

Fabric
I like pure fabrics, cotton and linens. Any count or color.

Kits
I'm not too much of a "kit-ty" kind of girl. I have a couple but that always seem to move to the back burner. I go nutty crazy when the threads are not pre-separated for you. :whine:

Charts
Samplers, Victorian designs. I love fairies, mermaids and designs with mothers and babies/children.
Lavender and Lace/Told in a Garden, Mirabilia, holiday stitching.
Joan Walsh Anglund charts remind me of my childhood and I have a couple of her stitching books.
Not keen printed charts, Disney charts or most anything cartoony. Buttons usually don't do much for me, or real-to-life animal designs.

Things I would like to try
beading
hand dyed linen
...and finishing more designs than I start. LOL
WIP
Barkhamstead Reservoir, CT - charted by skitzzzzz
Autumn - Cross Eyed Cricket
Guardian Angel - Lavender and Lace
Louise Nursing Her Child - Mary Cassatt (Cross Stitch Collectibles)

This is fun to think about!

:D Colors - Reds, bright blues, mostly any bright colors! I love contrasts and interesting looking stuff. Chrome!
 Colors - I don't really like pink or purple, so unless it's part of a pattern I rarely use them.

:D Thread - DMC, Anchor isn't too bad. I like the silky stuff since it's so smooth, and I LOVE metallic threads in spite of them being a pain in the butt to use. Shiny! I can't resist. I'm really interested in trying that Madeira stuff, but I haven't found it locally and am yet to order some.
 Thread - Those off brands that break easily, run when wet, and don't really have numbers.

:D Fabric - 18 count Aida, evenweave, perforated paper or plastic (for ornaments and things).
 Fabric - Low count (ie below 14) Aida.

:D Patterns - Dragons, Wolves, palm trees, natural scenes, outdoorsie themed stuff, fish, seaside scenes, boats, maps, rabbits, golden retrievers, most animals in general...
 Patterns - Christian religious theme, sci-fi stuff, baby things, very cutesie projects (ie teddy bears, Disney...)

:D Kits - Kits are nice. I love small projects in a kit, since they are handy for traveling. Big ones are cool too, since everything is all together. Beads! I love stitching with beads!
 Kits - Stamped. Stamped Cross stitch just doesn't get along with me all that well.

Things I would like to try:
Hardanger, some of the more fancy embroidery type stitches, really high count evenweave or linen, Madeira or other different varieties of floss, creating a 3-D project. I love experimenting with stuff.

Fav Colours
red, blue, dark green, silver, purple

Threads

Evenweave - 25/28 - any colour
Hand dyed is love.

Kits
Wildlife, horses, fantasy, tigers, colorful landscapes

Charts
Same as above

Things I would like to try
simple speciality stitches

Dislikes
Stamped kits
Religious designs
Anything very cartoony or cutsie

i'll give this a go even though I haven't experimented with too much fabric, threads, patterns and kits.

Threads
 DMC, Anchor, Metallics, Silks, Satins
:x None - as I haven't tried most threads.

Fabric
 14/16/18ct Aida and perforated paper (would like to try evesweave and hand dyes)
:x None, I have only tried the above.

Patterns
 biscornus (I love them :D ), Art Deco, Celtic
:x I don't like anything too old fashioned but nothing too cute

Kits

going to try to do this too! :)

Fav Colors - purple, pink, teal, anything bright and pastel

Thread - I'm still working on my first ever project so i dont really have threads i prefer over something else just yet, may have to remember to edit this eventually.

Fabric - 1)14ct aida 2) 16 ct aida 3) 18ct aida

i don't see very well in real life so 14 is preferred though i have seen and played with both 16 and 18 ct at a friend's place and seen it wasn't too hard but anything smaller such as even weave or other type of counts might be to tiny for me.

Patterns - cats, teddy bears, country style patterns, i love landscape type images, especially one's by thomas kinkaid. also my favorite characters are tinkerbell, care bears, my little pony and strawberry shortcake, (yes i'm definately a child of the 80s lol)

Things I would like to try - i want to try a really big project next, maybe one day one of these really intricate HAEDs i see people showing off even if i might have to do it on a much lower count of fasbric in order to be able to see it well. i also want to learn to do smaller things, like this biscornu i see people talk about on here.

Hello all. I joined this forum in August, but I haven't been very active because I was planning my wedding which took place at the end of October! Now that the wedding's past, however, I'm trying to get my life back to normal. So, here's my "stitching biography":

Colors
 autumn hues and earth tones, including greens, orange, browns, neutrals; also love turquoise and blues
:x purple, bright pinks

Threads
 DMC
Would love to try over-dyed floss like Weeks Dye Works.
:x None so far; willing to try anything!

Fabric
 evenweaves, linen
:x 11ct Aida; higher counts are okay
Would love to try more colored fabrics or even hand-dyed or over-dyed fabric. I'm stuck in a white/off-white rut!

Kits or Charts
I like kits. I've done quite a few and have even more in my stash, but I'm trying to move away from kits and do more charts.

Patterns
 samplers, autumn themes, seashells, birds & birdhouses, Christmas themes--especially ornaments, Halloween, four seasons/seasonal themes, folk art/"primitive" designs
:x fantasy designs, dragons, fairies, angels, baby designs, cartoon characters, teddy bears
Some examples of designers I love include Blackbird Designs, Carriage House Samplings, Plum Street Samplers and Prairie Schooler.

Fav Colors - autumn tones, as well as greys, black and silver/gold.
:x Colors - white... at least when stitching, because it gets dirty so fast! 'girly' tones (ie. pink, purple)

Thread - I... guess... DMC?
:x Threads - None.

Fabric - Aida.
:x Fabric - Just used aida thusfar as far as I know... so none?

Patterns - 1) birds 2) butterflies 3) wolves 4) anything that catches my eye, to be honest.
:x Patterns- 1) humans... 2) overly/obviously religious ...

I also for the most part prefer kits, though I am starting to give charts a shot. :D

WoW. I've never looked at this before. It is interesting to see. I have a hard time picking favorites. Sometimes it depends on why I'm doing the stitching, that determines the type of design. Overall, I've probably never done a fantasy, sorry. I see that it has multitudes of fans. I done a couple kind of religious, a recent wedding sampler had a Corinthians verse, that was very appropriate. I've done some cutsey, especially for children. I love blues, but that that doesn't always work. I like Christmas stuff, just did some small tags for my co-workers. Floral are good. I've always wanted to do houses and villiages, but so far have never managed to fit any in. I may have done something that I've forgotten. I have an antique looking map as a long time wip, and a fruit bell pull by Teresa Wentzler, that has languished a long time. Also a table cover that is maybe 2 years overdue. I use mostly DMC because that has been most available close to home. But, I have just ordered Anchor for a design from Cross Stitch Gold, I want to try. I think it is called something like Water Garden. I am not crazy about stamped cross stitch, but I have done it and have a WIP. I would like to do more even weave than Aida, but again that seems to be easiest to come by. I also have a large stash of kits. I wish I could buy more charts, they would take up less room. Well, I probably have more to say but I'll quit now. Loved reading all the other thoughts on the subject. :ratherbe:

Ok, I'll go... :)

Colors: Hmmm, not really any I dislike. Love really colorful designs.

Threads: DMC primarily but have used quite a few hand-dyed and silk ones and I love them!

Fabric - only use evenweave and linen, I always switch out the Aida that comes in kits. Although I have a couple of WIP and UFOs that I'm trying to finish that are on Aida.

Patterns vs kits: I use either, whatever project appeals to me. Have been known to buy a kit and then switch out both the fabric and threads. Makes for an expensive chart, lol.

Subjects: I like florals, scenery, horses, cats, fairies, dragons and samplers. Have recently become addicted to HAEDs and have purchased many, although I won't have actually started one until tonight when I'll be starting on my HAED freebie SAL. I don't stitch religious or cartoonish pieces unless they are a present for someone.

Things I would like to try: some more complicated Hardanger and drawn/pulled thread pieces. I have recently taken some classes and love the different stitches!

Oh, this is a great opportunity!

Fav Colors - Hard to choose! I generally like rich ranges from greens to blues and blues to purples

Thread - DMC flosses, silks (I really want to get a good range), Kreinek Metallics

Fabric - Linens and Evenweaves in small counts (28 32 count preferably, nothing smaller than 22). Would love to get my hands on some hand-dyed stuff!

Patterns - Photo- or VERY-realistic animals; birds, insects, wild creatures. The more colourful the better. Flowers too!

:D Only just seen this!

Colours:
 Purples, Greens and greys - there is nothing better than stitching a large section of a dull colour then putting it next to a really bright green
:x Reds make my eyes sore

Threads
 Mainly DMC
:x I haven't found anything (yet!)

Fabric
 Aida - 18ct
:x Linen

Patterns
 Anything modern that doesn't look like it has been gathering dust in a old peoples home for a million years, geek chic, gaming patterns, anything fun!
:x nothing i really hate I'll consider giving most things a look over if its for a present!

Kits
 Modern designs that are quite cartoony - if I want traditional art landscapes and stuff then I prefer paintings, unless its a snow scene i'm a sucker for a christmas themed scene! Ummm - yeah, cute cartoony and something that really doesn't take itself at all seriously, its supposed to be for fun so sewing overly religious symbolism or pictures of women who are stoney faced and having a terrible time really isn't my bag.
:x Anything too religious, boring, old (can cover a lot of things) I find myself trawling websites and hobbycraft just begging for there to be something that I (at 26) won't mind displying in my home!
