Cute floss story

Post by carolanne »

Afriend (male) and I were wandering in a touristy area, and went into a shop. My friend spotted the embroidery thread and said here is some thread. The shop person said "Floss". So, I looked at him and said Oh I can tell you are a pro. He kind of laughed and said he had to figure out what the ladies wanted when he answered the phone and all he heard was "do you have 135?" I guess the shop or the floss is a new venture. He said women call and give him a list of numbers and say I'll have my husband pick it up on his way home. What service! Anyway, it made me smile. I hope you enjoy this little story also.

Great service, so I hope they'll do well :-)!

(If DH went into a shop like that and the shop assistent said Floss to him he'd probably think they were commenting on his dental hygiene... :-))

I have visions of this poor man standing, listening down the phone wondering what sort of 'weirdo's' were calling him!!

I have to agree, that is a great story.

I get OH to get odd colours I run out of if I can't wait until I order a batch online. He gets Friday afternoons off work (lucky devil) so if he's going into town he pops in the new stitchy shop there to get them. Funnily enough that shop is run by a man too and after about 3 visits, he greets Simon with "which ones does she want this time?" Hahaha.

Good to know there is such a great service in shops. I think it would be marvellous to be able to phone in an order and get DS or DIL to pick it up on their way out and about.

My hubby would call it thread, and has even called it string..oh the horrors. But he redeems himself because i have called him before he work near the michael's and I have said can you get me some floss and give him the number and since he has gone on my stash outing he knows how to find the number and even knows to look in the couple of bins next to the correct bin to make sure someone didn't just stick it in the wrong place.
Now fabric is a different story i have tried to explain the difference between the counts and he says so 32 count is bigger? LOL.

When going into a LNS, my ex-wife, who didn't stitch, and I would bet on how long it would be until an employee ran to help her, not me. Sometimes, we would go in separately just to see if I was ignored, watched as if I was a thief/rapist/serial killer, or actually helped me. It was amazing how many out-of-town shops chose the second option with me. :)

 At the local shop I visited in PA, all the ladies kept asking my husband if he needed assistance and not me...

Good story. I don't know of a shop here that provides that type of service.

:D :D Fantastic stories!! Thanks for the smile on my face!! :D :D
Weird enough, we only got 2 stores with stitchy stuff (that I know of) and both have male assistance as well! Must say, I hope to be blessed with a hubby one day, that will understand my love for wool, floss and fabric! :D and by slight chance pick up needed stitchy supplies :D lol
