Trylla's First HAED - Home Sweet Home *Update Dec 7 2011*

I finally made a start on my very first HAED. I've had the materials since July, but I couldn't let myself start it while I was still working on the butterfly project. Now that all of the Christmas presents I was stitching are done, I can do something special for me!

I've chosen to stitch Home Sweet Home by Lierre Foest.



Oh the colours!!! 11 shades of orange, 22 shades of green ... it's awesome!



The piece will be huge - 16" W x 22 1/2" H.



The gridding made me crazy, so I ended up just gridding the outline of the first few pages. I doubt I'll keep the gridding in long; it'll annoy me I'm sure.

I managed to get about 250 stitches in so far (but in some of the ickiest colours!)

I keep looking at these big projects and get anxious to start my starry night! But I have made a rule that I can't start it until I finish my bless this home....

Have you tried gridding with the watersoluble markers?

Nice and colorful design! Looks like it will be a lot of fun to stitch. Are you planning on working on it till it's done, or put it aside after awhile to work on some other project?

Just when I think I've looked through everything on the HAED website, you all show me an another artist I've somehow missed.

@ maemae0410 - I've used water-soluble pens before, but I didn't trust that I'd manage to draw accurate straight lines that I could trust. I have found with the easycount line that I'm using that it distorts the fabric a little, and that bothers me a lot. I think I'll just trust that I can count. Or maybe I'll draw the pages in with pen ... we'll see.

@pamelam - I have 3 other small projects on the go, so there will be some type of rotation, but it'll be a random one based on my mood rather than a formal schedule.

Been stitching my fingers to the bone this week. Put in 2500 stitches (or half a page) on my HAED. The colours a) are not that pretty and b) involve interesting shading. I know it'll look fabulous as part of the bigger design, but staring at it 6 inches from my face for the last week makes me wonder about how the colours are coming together.



This will be going away for a few days, while I work on a few neglected projects.

Lovely progress... I hear you on the colors and wondering if they will really come together. Sometimes I look at my design, then my floss, and its really, this goes here?!?!? Did they screw up the chart?!?! Pull out the finished sample picture ok I see it, it just doesn't look that color in that picture.
