N's Stitch Projects (Update: 06/08, p9)

Post by noctifyre »

Bit embarrassed that first WIP I'm posting is of a stamped cross stitch... but it's the sole one I'm working on atm, mainly due to the fact that it's a long overdue present for my mother. (This kit was originally bought yeaaaars ago)

Anyways... total progress thusfar:

Image

Anyone else find it far more tedious to work on projects when dealing with a mass of different tones of the same colour? Ugh, greens and blues... not going to find it all that enjoyable to work with.

It is really a lovely project but I agree it is hard to keep motivated with lots of areas in one or two colours. Wishing you fast stitching

Your stitching is lovely and even, so difficult to do in stamped cross stitch!

i don't do kits because i can never tell the colors apart if there are just slightly lighter/darker...lol

:applesauce: great progress! and don't be  about working on stamped. I find them harder..you have to cover the stamped x's perfectly..which you are doing :applesauce:

I actually find stamped cross stitch much harder than regular counted cross stitch! It's a gorgeous scene. :)

I've done a few stamped projects, mostly bibs, so it wasn't too arduous. I did one stocking for my DH years ago, that was a pain! Your work looks great!! Very straight and even. :applesauce:

You should check Corey G's thread about the polar bears! He was mentioning this same issue. Who knew there could be so many shades of the same basic colour.

My aunt only does stamped and I really only do counted. We've discussed how we really can't fathom how each other likes their preferred style. :)

You are doing such an amazing job on that I didn't even notice it was stamped Gil you said it was. And it looks like you're just flying with it and not much left to go.

And I have a thread up of Pilate bears by dimensions. It's all greys. It's driving me bonkers. I know how it is to deal with all similar tones. Very frustrating and you want to give up quicker.

Keep going cause it's looking great.

Thanks for the warm response, everyone!

My first ever xstitch project was a stamped sampler (?) for my grandmother ("There's No Place Like Home Except Grandma's") ... It took me years to ever finish it. :D;; She now has it hanging up in the dining room.

I've found myself wondering that as well when it comes to all different colours. It's like you never really consider the spectrum of colours out there until you're doing crafts (of any type) or web design (all the HTML colour codes...).

I hardly recall crayon/colour pencils ever being this varied. :P

Your progress looks great!!! I was given a stamped project as a gift when I was pregnant with my first and as young as I was I gave up on it because I was used to only counted and working on aida. When my neice was born about 7 years ago though I stitched matching bibs and blanket that were stamped and had a much better time with it. I would do more if I had more time to even complete the projects I have right now :) As for the shades of colors, I would have said before that I like the shading because it helps with the flow of the project (I get to say I have completed a shade) but with this little creature I just stitched it would have been much easier to just do one color. I am considering parking for the next animal as there is a lot of color change again and doing so is not as easy with a frame as it is with a hoop....
I do hope you find more enjoyment from this project as it progresses

Oh, don't get me wrong - I AM enjoying the project as a whole. It's just the same colour of many shades areas that make things seem so tedious.

Sorry for lack of updates... I got a bit bored with the Chickadees so I frogged all the progress I originally made with Seasons, and restarted it... not very far in that, and I had to frog some of it because I realised I messed up the count on an area. :x

Also been working on my ATC for January, though I doubt I'm supposed to post any pictures of its WIP form, so I'll try to get one of Seasons up soon.
