I wanted to try something new and have always loved the look of Biscornus – so here are my first attempts.
I'm quite pleased with them and when I got a “wow†from Mark I was really chuffed. They are certainly not perfect (anything but!!) but hopefully I'll improve with practise.
I also don't have any decent buttons for them so It was a bit of a cast of see what I've got – the variegated purple side is finished with a small amethyst!!
My problem is I really struggle to pick up the backstitches and would love any hints and tips to help!! I may be doing the back stitch too tight … or maybe I'm just rubbish at them!! I also don't think I stuffed them enough.

They are both so pretty I really like biscornus and I have seen a lot of them on lots of different blogs. I think your stitching and stuffing is fine. If you are not totally happy with the end result keep making them..practise makes perfect.. and we get to see more biscornus
They are super! I especially like the Hungarian heart one

Very successful, no wonder Mark was impressed -- and the little amethyst is perfect, and unusual too!
I think you may have hit the nail on the head about your problem picking up the backstitch -- I did one where I had pulled the backstitch quite tight and found it almost impossible to do the whipstitching (it was black on black too... ), so perhaps doing your backstitch in a more relaxed way will solve it *pictures ali-cat doing her backstitch in a scented bubble bath*
Thank you everyone, for all your lovely comments!! I should admit that it took me a while to position them, before photographing, so the best seams were showing!!

I really like the thought of that!! My backstitchs are as tight as Nadal's underwear, so I'll try to loosen them a bit ... yes, I am talking about my sitiches!!

Oh boy …. are they addictive!!
Really took my time stitching this one up and am much happier with the finish. When I was doing the back stitch I kept thinking of bubbles to relax – and it worked!! Thanks Mabel!! I'm desperately trying not to make any more at the moment so I can go back to work on Decko ….. but I have a chart which Kell sent me of four chickens which I think would look brilliant turned into a Biscornu. I must resist!
Oh, and Mark looked at the three of them last night and said - “they are super ….... what do you do with them?â€

Oh I love these! I'm full of admiration for you doing these. I couldn't. Yours are wonderful, they really do look fab!
I especially love the purple one and the little amethyst really adds something special.
