Jane Greenoff help

Post by Sarah83 »

I bought this last week and have been playing around with it and really liking it. The only problem I have is that I can't find any way to save pictures of my designs so I can post them on here or anywhere else. At the moment I don't have a printer so can't print them out and take photos of them. Even my trusty photoshop can't open the files it automatically saves them as and there seems no way to change the format it saves as. Can anyone help?

Under "File" menu, there is an export function where you can save to a bitmap (just found this myself). Recommend zooming in to an acceptable looking size, Select the part of the chart you want to save and away you go. You might find it difficult to find it afterwards - mine get saved under C, program files, focus etc etc.

Hmmm...there is no export option on mine, only an import one. This is Jane Greenoffs Cross Stitch Designer, not sure whether there's another program she's done out there.

:( Oooh sorry, mine is JGs Cross Stitch Pattern Creator 2
Is there a help where you can search for export, or when you save your chart, can you just save it as a bitmap from a drop down box ?
Till I found the export functionI was doing it the hard way - printing the chart then scanning it in

Nothing comes up on the help when I type in export and the drop down box when I save only has the one type of file. I have a feeling printing and scanning may be the only way to be honest :(

:(
Maybe someone else who has the same program can suggest something.

If all else fails, think about downloading a free screen capture software (we have Wisdom-soft ScreenHunter). This allows you to select all or part of your screen and saves to a bitmap. I have just tried it out and it works.

When I used the demo version of PC Stitch, which had no printing option, what I did was press Ctr + PrintScreen, which copies the screen then pasted it in Photoshsop and cut off the border around the pattern. It works if the pattern is not too big.

I have Designer Gold and in that the File dropdown box has the option to save, or save as. I usually just print mine off though.

i have this program and i have just had a play around with it

not good news im afraid, i saved my pattern into my photos on pc but it only saves it as a JGG image. no program on my pc i have will open it and i have looked on the internet for a program that will but cant find one at all. there dont seem to be a way from it being saved as a JGG image, thats the only option you get when you save it

sorry only way is to print and scan back in, very silly!!!

I don't have this program, but asked my computer savvy DH, he mentioned that sometimes you can rename the file. Has anyone tried that? Also he said .jgg doesn't exist!! Something weird with that program.

well it does exist but only for this program it seems,

you can save image no prob but only as a JGG image, i have even tried right clicking on the picture then going to properties and changing it that way but its not having any of it.

its very odd and silly! dont know why i have never noticed it before

maybe they have done it that way so you cant share the patterns easy

Yeah, they only exist for this program. Even Photoshop can't open them and Photoshop has never failed me before  Like Paul I've tried to find other programs that can open it but it seems specific to this one program unfortunately.

I've also tried saving as something other than a JGG but it won't have it. Renaming doesn't work and you can't change the properties. Or at least a computer illiterate like me can't anyway. It does seem silly not to be able to save as any other file type.

If you can't print at the moment, try installing a pdf printer -- it's a software printer and produces, not a paper print but a pdf of the chart. Some of them are freeware and very good, I use PDF reDirect myself (make sure you get the free version not the Pro version)
