My Sony is charged by plugging the UBS cord into the computer or you can buy a AC adaptor. They last about 2 weeks or 10,000 pages.
I like reading mysterys, horrors, fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction ,biographies pretty much anything but those horrid Harlequin Romances , and western..
I like books too but the problem is holding them. It hurts my wrists.
I chose a Sony over a kindle because I can borrow from the library and a kindle doesn't.

Just discovered this thread and I love it... I even had a 'DUH' moment when I realised you can listen to books and stitch at the same time... Why haven't I thought about that sooner!
I am also deciding if I want to buy a Kindle, but friends of mine has one and if I want I can still get the books I love and the series I follow in hardbacks. Although space in the house is getting less with 2 bookcases filled with my books and another 2 times the size bookcase for my BF's books!
I think I will buy myself a Kindle soon, love to take that on a holiday too

What are you all reading at the moment?

Now I will go have a look and get myself some audiobooks ^_^

I have the story Eragon on audio CD's and I was very inpressed with the story, so I bought the 2nd book Eldest. What a disappointment. The author had lost me within the first 3 chapters. Nothing like the first book. I forced myself to finish the book but I will not be getting the 3rd and final book.

A favorite author of mine is Iris Johansen.

I had an e-mail from Amazon today to tell me that my all time favorite author is due to be published again at the end of March.
She (the author) has just completed no6 of 7 books in the series.
She is called Jean M Auel and I heartily recommend her books. The first on is called "The Clan of the Cave Bear"
They are set in pre-historic times - do not be put off - and follow one character throughout her life.
Brilliant read if you are interested.

I almost completely gave up reading ever since I found audiobooks. I listen to them all the time while stitching, knitting or browsing the net.

At the moment I am listening to Kenn Follet's The Man from St. Petersburg - it is really interesting. But I have listened to the complete HP series (more than ones ) and started LoTR but didn't finish it and then had to return the CDs to the library. Will try to buy it and start again. Oh, and I only listen to English books - very good learning. There is one setback: I know virtually nothing about modern Hungarian literature. I blame stitching for all this

I love reading, my DH got me a Nook classic for Christmas, I love it it took me a while to get used to buying a file for almost the same price as a book. But I can download books from the library as well.

Someone mentioned that their library did not carry audio books, you need to go and ask one of the clerks...my library is now part of the "e" craze and has joined in with other libraries in the state...they are purchasing online audio books and ebooks that you can check out online using your library card!!

Also..rose have you ever been to librivox online...you can download an app for your iphone/ipod touch as well and they are FREE audio books...mostly classics that are "public domain" so no copy right issues but they have gotten me stuck on anne of green gables LOL

I mess around on shelfar...another forum but not as friendly as you guys where you have a shelf and keep up with the books you can get reviews etc on there!

I loved those books Rose, the last one was supposed to be the final in the trilogy but he split it into two. Still waiting for the final one.... I love those kinds of books and the annoying thing is they have lots like that at the library but of course there is always one missing from the series. Even on their E books I read one of Terry Brooks called Arnageddon's Child, great book but they don't have #2, just #3. really annoying. And most of that genre are have many books in a series.
I don't think I could name a favourite auther, there are so many but I do love Anne McCaffrey's books. She has several series the most popular ones are the Dragons of Pern series.

I'm with you Rose, it was such a struggle to finish Eldest. Do not waste your time on the last one. I think this is the second time in my life, but I did not finish that book. I looked up reviews of it, and most said, don't read the first 700 pages, just the last 50 is all you need. Pretty disappointing since Eragon seemed good.

Also an Iris Johansen fan. Too many others to name, fantasy, mystery, some thrillers, some horror, some sci-fi, current favourite authors Laurie R. King, Neil Gaiman, Brandon Sanderson.

I'm still trying to find out which book I shall purchase for my first audiobook.
I was thinking of Harry Potter or The Mortal Instruments as Ed Westwick is going to do the male voices in Book 4: City of Fallen Angels

A good reader is important on audiobooks! (Maybe that was my issue with that Brisnger book mauveme). One of my favourites is George Guidall who reads "The Cat Who" mysteries.

I like Stephen Fry as a reader, but the Harry Potter books here in UK are all around £20 and for the last one in the serie it's even £50!
So no Harry for me...

Angel, you could have been writing about me with your story of the library. I love the library and still go. As I live in a village, we get a mobile library come every two weeks and I love it. Plus, when I was at school, I worked in my school library too. Like you, it was voluntary and I did everything a librarian would do. It was my favourite place to be.

Apparently the film made of the first book is awful! So if anyone sees that don't be put off the books.
I treated myself to some books today..7 volumes of The Illustrated Library Shakspeare from 1890..I haven't spelt his name wrong..that is the spelling used for these books

Thought that I would give you a giggle regarding books and bookshelves. I am nuts about books, fiction, non-fiction, it really does not matter. When I lived in the UK, working, studying, courses and gaining certificates for a different job meant that I was buying loads of books so my OH decided to build me a huge bookshelf in our hallway. When finished it was 4 foot wide with 8 or 9 shelves. He stood back and said "How long will it take you to fill that then". He went to put all of his tools away and when he returned from the shed the shelves were full, he was flabbergasted. I had been storing books in so many places, he really had no idea how useful his handiwork would be. Still had a problem though of where to put the next lot of books that I bought.
