Re: Blue Lanterns
hi, is your scroll frame easy to use while lounging, silly question I know but I find the hoops are just a bit too small for current work

Re: Blue Lanterns
Not a silly question at all ^_^ I love my frame! I honestly don't know how I did large projects without it! What I love the most is that the width is fully customizable, if I have a project that's wider than my largest lengths, I simply pop down to B&Q or some other DIY store and buy a piece of dowling and cut that to size. There's no reason my scroll frame would ever be too small for a project when you know it's only £3 to make it bigger, I've got four sizes of dowl, I keep my spares in my craft room, next to my bookshelf tied with an elestic band to keep them together. It's really easy to use. I deffinately recommend them.

Re: Blue Lanterns
hmm might have to have a look at doing something similar, as the kits I have at the moment are all quite large, the Geishas is about 40x30 cm

Re: Blue Lanterns
I don't blame you, they're so beautiful! Maia have some of the lovliest designs, and the Japanese ones are always so beautiful! I don't often stitch people as it's so hard to do faces and a lot of human designs are let down by the faces, but Maia have always done a good job, in every kit I've seen. The price puts me off a little though. I know It's totally worth it, but I very rarely have that much money on me at a time
"oooh I have a pound....THREAD!"
My scroll frame, as you can probably see, slots into a seat stand too, so it's totally handsfree. I sit on the bit at the bottom and it holds my frame over my lap. I have a hoop attachment for it, but when a project is big enough to require a frame, a hoop just isn't big enough for me
I'd rather stitch free handed than use one.Good luck finding one that works for you ^_^

Re: Blue Lanterns
Have fun ^_^
It's insane, I've only really ever seen them in store, and they've always been the same price, but that quick google search showed me more than £20 difference between some sites

Re: Blue Lanterns
I'm totally going to have to do that when I next buy a kit. I mostly work from magazines or else the sales rack (that's where I got this one from), but there are some beautiful kits out there I've got my eye on.
Thank you ^_^ And I look forward to seeing your progress pics too ^_^

Re: Blue Lanterns
I've done some more! I actually attempted some decorative backstitch (in the black of one of the lanterns) Not a good idea considering I'm stitching by a pink lamp at one side that casts insane shadows >_< But meh, I did it. I also did some light grey...which you can't see because it's like 1 shade away from white >_< But heh, I don't mind working light grey. And of course some branches and some more black in my white lantern. Soon I'll be able to backstitch the lantern and that will really make me happy ^_^

Re: Blue Lanterns
ooh the dreaded backstitch what a nightmare, have to do that one in full daylight if we ever get any !!

Re: Blue Lanterns
hehe yeah, I don't recomend doing the back stitch in the dark. It was almost impossible! But it does look good.
Re: Blue Lanterns
I love the way it gives it definition, just hate the amount of time it takes, especially when I did the bugs bunny one it took an age!
