Soooo... I'm pretty new to this cross-stitching thing. But I have the this small bug in my head that is convinced I can do absolutely anything, so here I am.
I've made two patterns and completed projects in the last two months, but now I'm looking for something new!
I like the idea of making something nontraditional using this very "homey" feeling method. I've never used a pattern making program before, I just use Photoshop.
Does anyone have any cool ideas for what I should do? I'm thinking along the lines of puns on old fashioned sayings ("bless this mouse" with an angel mouse?) or really odd things to see cross-stitched (bacon? a snail? a little boy picking his nose?)
I don't know. Thoughts?

You could try http://www.wikiquote.org" target="_blank" target="_blank and just pick a holiday or a topic and see what you can find there.

I've recently been interested in video game characters and I'm thinking I might attempt charting a few favourite comic or cartoon characters; the Tick or Freakazoid come to mind. Any interest in that kind of thing?

Try googling "subversive cross stitch" - there are plenty of funny ideas. Also, our Kell has done quite a few that are great. If you just browse through this topic you might find what you like.

If you're into video game stitching, be sure to check out http://www.spritestitch.com" target="_blank
The people on there are so talented; I'm working on "Mario through the ages" now.
Here's a link to their master list of patterns:

Thanks for the good tips!
Doing something along the lines of The Tick is definitely up my alley. I love the subversive cross stitch site, though i think i would rather have more imagery.
I like the idea of doing something super realistic looking, but it would require a lot of different kind of thread.
And patience.
