Teresa Wentzler The Castle help please

Post by scootit »

I want to change the dragon on the Teresa Wentzler Castle pattern. I want to add bling to this. Has anyone on this site done this? I am looking for a pattern with the changed threads. Other web sites that I find do not have any update charts for this change. Any help would be great.
Thanks,

I generally adapt patterns myself - if it's a change of colour I use DMC colour charts that provide shade ranges to move from one colour to the other (ie the chart tells you if you have this range of threads in blue what the equivalent range would be in reds or greens or whatever).

The other option is just to pick colours I like and replace them with the colours on the chart.

If you just want to add bling I'd recommend blending fillaments which will make your dragon shimmer subtly or a whole lot depending on how much you use =}

i have done this pattern...by bling do you mean making the dragon sparkly? if so, and you are using DMC..it's pretty easy..just match up the color w/ a blending filament..

The TW dragon in my Fantasy Sampler has lots of blending filament, in gold, pink, purple etc. It does look good!

There is actually a metallic conversion on Teresa Wentzler's page. There is a lot of good info there about her patterns, like chart corrections and the like. She has a bulletin board too in case you wanted to see other color combination's people have done with the metallics. I know there was a really nice golden one. Also, someone made a wing extension for this design that Teresa gave her blessing on. You might find some good info from that resource. I'm new and didn't see anything in the stickies about links to other sites so I hope this is okay. If not, I'll remove them.

Thanks for the information. The only conversion I could find was making the dragon gold. I was looking for someone who might have a conversion that just adds metallic to the dragon. I will be adding the wing extension, a moon and doing this piece on hand dyed dark Linen(navy & black colors) also I will add some beads for stars. I just need a conversion to add some bling to the dragon. Oh yah I will add stain glass windows to the castle. There once was a site that had all the color conversion charts ect but it no longer is around. I hope someone has these conversion to share. I am unable to do the conversions myself, I am new to cross stitching and need some help.
Thanks,

That first link is for adding/substituting blending filament and cord to the standard design. The other colors were on the bulletin board. I don't have the chart in front of me at the moment but I think it covers all the colors used in the dragon. Your additions of beads and a moon sound amazing, I hope you post pics!
