Daycare Introduction

Post by Daycare »

My name is Rebecca. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I am married with 2 young boys and work from my home in a family daycare. I am 37.

I have only done kits in the past. I started with small projects, christmas tree ornaments and bookmarks. I sent a personalized one to all my family one Christmas. My favorite project is the one that took 6 years (and the birth of two children) to complete, of our marriage.

I have just finished one of my son's birth, and have just received one for his baptism. It will be my first pattern, as I was not able to obtain a decent looking kit from anywhere.

I believe all projects should be personalized to prove you did them (some don't believe it) and that most people don't appreciate the effort cross stitch takes, so don't bother to give it away.

Hi Rebecca, welcome to the forum -- your projects sound very interesting!
I agree lots of people don't realise the effort and love that go into a cross-stitched piece, but fortunately some people really do appreciate them, so I'm just very picky who I give them to :-)

I have only done counted cross stitch. I work on my craft about an hour every 2 days. I start with the lightest colour first, then work my way towards the darkest colour. Which is why my hardest crafts involve doves or snowmen :D

I dread french knots. I have to relearn how to do them every time.

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us.

French knots seem to have a mind of their own, I sometimes think. I always need two hands to wrestle them into shape.

No, I am not a riders fan. I'm afraid I don't have cable. I tend to watch movies, if I watch anything.

My three main hobbies are: my online game, mabinogi (nobody has ever heard of it, even other gamers); cross stitching; and reading fantasy/romance books.

Then we'll have lots to talk about! :) Although I haven't heard of the game either.
