Pam, I don't think I will -- I enjoyed stitching it, but I've got so many other lovely things lined up as well! DH suggested loading a nib pen with bleach and trying to dab it very precisely onto the affected bits of the fabric, but as i won't be able to rinse it afterwards I'm not sure what it would do to the fabric in the long run. So I've decided to make it up as it is, and let the stains be part of its story -- if nothing else it'll teach me that nobody's perfect :-)

So here it is, ironed, stained but not yet made up:

Oh, you poor thing. Do you have the "Shout stain wipes" or the "Tide To Go" pen on your side of the pond? The Tide pen can be a life saver. If you don't have them, PM me your addy again and I'll send you one to try.

A good tip abot bleach is to put soap on it afterwards, as it will stop the effects of the bleach degrading the fabric and eating holes, though not sure how that will work seeing as you can't wet it again

What a lovely project - and I am so sorry for your accident with it. I hope you will be able to solve it somehow.
We have here something for clothes you washed together with other colours... to remove the unwanted colour. I once used it for a similar problem, just made a little of the solution and dabbed it with a cotton-ended stick very carefully. It worked - and I didn't rinse it afterwards.

Thanks for all the tips and offers -- you are wonderful  ! But I would feel really nervous about putting anything on that I couldn't rinse off, so I think I'll leave it; as I said, it's become part of its story, and a useful reminder too as I use so many speciality threads!

I've found that the fabric I used for the Kingfisher cushion is just the right colour to back this too, and DH has cut me two rectangles from thick card -- all i have to think of is a way to attach the hanging ribbon/cord, I may thread it through then put beads on the end. Hope to do this some time before the weekend but don't know if I'll manage, and we're away over the weekend -- an odd combination of a funeral on Friday, and our annual Flanders & Swann get-together (where DH and I met 7 years ago) on Saturday!

Last night I got some stitching time to spend on the Necessities sampler, I'm pleased with how the colours are working (I didn't have exactly the required colours in my fairly meagre Appleton's stash so I had to improvise). Here it is so far:

The other project I'm working on is some hardanger on black 28ct -- after a few stitches on that, the Necessities sampler (which is on cream Congress cloth over two, so in effect 12ct) is quite a relief :-)!

I wondered about that when I saw your "handle" :D I hope you have a great time.

Good luck with your new projects, and re: Prayer Connection, didn't someone mention that many years ago people would purposely miss a stitch because "Only God is perfect?"

Have fun this weekend!

Tiff, I noticed you mentioned the Gasman recently :-)

And yes, the "not perfect" approach is rather appropriate here!

The Prayer project does not look terrible, just gives it a bit of a shadow affect. Your new sampler is looking good!!!!! :applesauce:

Mabel the prayer looks fine I thought it was some new technique and if as you say it was a error perhaps the saying is more apt for your future projects with your specialists threads.
