OK so now that my Fantasy Flitterfies project is nearly finished I have been able to make a start on my first ever sampler. My parents will have been married for 40 on Sept 4th so I have been looking round for a sampler that I like for awhile and finally settled for this one.
I wanted to start it now so that I have enough time to do it without having to rush. I'm only doing it on 14ct as I don't feel brave enough to try evenweave just yet (had a little practice and couldn't get to grips with it yet )

And here is my progress so far - only started it this evening. Took me an hour to go through all my unwound DMC threads to find the right ones

I was just searching online today for 40th wedding anniversary gift ideas. My in-laws will celebrate theirs in June. I didn't even consider a cross stitch because they have no room for anything else on the walls.

Thought I would post a small update. Even though I only started it yesterday I have made some good headway with it today. I changed one of the threads for the big floral design from dark pink to the DMC varigated red and I'm pleased with how it has come out Makes it more suitable as a Ruby Anniversary sampler now.

That is looking really beautiful - I only joined today as I'm looking for some inspiration for my Sister & Brother-in-law who celebrate their 40th anniversary in August, I was going to make a card and a small sampler but seeing this has made me decide to down tools (fixing up kitchen at the mo) and look to find this one. Here's hoping I make as good an attempt as your's.
