Mediterranean Mermaid fabric

Post by Mystonique »

Not sure if anyone can help. I'm about to stitch this project by Mirabila. I don't like the coplour of the recommended fabric for the background. I've found Picture this Plus and was thinking something a little more striking, maybe watery blue or green. Problem is I have never seen the fabrics in person and computer screens lie. Has anyone stitched this or knows these fabrics and can recommend one that would compliment it?

You might email the ladies at PTP. Tell them which chart you're doing, which fabric you have in mind and ask if they have any suggestions. They have a very good eye and are always glad to help.

Aha! I might be able to help. I did Mediterranean Mermaid last year, & agree that the designer's choice of fabric isn't that inspiring. I went for Silkweaver's opalescent Spring Garden linen. It's a gentle green/grey/almost pink hue, which sounds odd but I think worked wonderfully!! (It's in my gallery if you want to check it out)

Also take a look at Sassy's Fabby's (Ebb Tide is good) & Polstitches (The Deep & Nessie) for other ideas.

I second what Jarvis suggested. I've emailed Marilyn & Shari at PTP before for advice on which color to buy, they are very helpful and have a great eye for what color will look good with different designs.

I can echo the customer service at PTP. They are wonderful to deal with. I asked them about a variety of colors and they were very nice about explaining the variations in each of them.
