A bead question

Post by caitief »

I tried to search for this and couldn't find it, so I am hoping someone can help me out!

I spent 40 minutes yesterday trying to master French Knots, but it just isn't going to happen. Instead, I am going to use beads. My question is this - there are several that are all alone without any others near them...so how can I secure them?

I did two but just running under before and after didn't seem to be enough, they fell off this morning!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly.. if I had some that were out in the middle of nowhere land.. I would probably knot it. Or, loop start and really wind the thread on the back in any direction I could.

It sounds like there are regualr stitches around it, so it may be easier to use a Bargello Tuck to start and end the thread. On the back of your workpiece, weave your threaded needle in and out of several stitches and then, skip a thread or two and do the same thing in the opposite direction. Stitch on the bead and end your thread the same way. I found one illustration online, but it's muddy and hard to see.

Thanks for the tip! I will have to try that tonight...after i get a needle from a friend. I thought my needles were small enough for beading, but turns out they aren't. Sigh
