Bit more stitched. Sorry it is taking so long - I'm only doing a bit at a time cos I'm being careful not to stress my thumb! But it has to be completed and framed by 9th June, if not before, so I shall have to speed up a bit. My framer is good, but not renowned for speed.

haha i missed this thread before..seeing it the first time, I loaded it and read the title out loud "what is it?" my 5yo who is sitting next to me yells "bacon!" for the first picture..

then the next picture he said, (and remember he is five) "Poop!"

then we went more and more and he finally guessed an "Indian looking turtle"
cause my dad does indian bead work lol

Turtle done, apart from backstitch and french knots (I hate those darn things), and background started.

Great work! (you could always use beads or petite beads instead of the french knots...)

That is a lovely turtle, very tribal looking, like a painting you'd find on a cave wall.

Love the turtle. (He looks much friendlier than the snapping turtle that ate all the goldfish in my little backyard pond. ) and the colors are so warm, he looks friendly.

Pssst its all your fault Fljots for stitching something wonderful....at least thats my excuse!

Two updates for comparison:

Image

First one. Notice the discs between the corner strips. They are quite pale, and don't show up much in real life. They are supposed to be backstitched in the same colour...

Image

...but I decided to do them in the next darker shade, in hopes of 'em showing up better. Which they do, although not much!
Sorry about the lighting on the second pic - I think I forgot the flash...

Oh! And I have to re-do those darn french knots in his eyes. I'd use beads only I don't have any the right colour.

I hope you find some nice ones! :) I'd offer you this pattern when I finish it, but I cross out stitches as I do 'em ...
