So I'm starting to do some small projects while waiting for order my fabric and receive it. Going to order it tomorrow cause I'm waiting for payday and then I get a pre-paid credit card as I don't have one yet.

This is one I've started on 14 ct cause it won't be too small then. First time doing fractionals and they're annoying. Hard to figure out how to do them though. So many choices lol. And I done this first one in 3 strands as I didnt like the coverage you normally get on 14. But found it hard to do fractionals.

Question for everyone thats done fractionals. Can you get better coverage on 28 ct with 2 strands of floss than 2 on 14?

Here's what I've got so far, and the final pic of what it should look like. I'm going to be breaking these up into small pieces and framed together. These strawberries will be in their own frame (4 inch hoop there) and the jug and bowl of strawberries in another and the cake on it's own too.

With my fractionals I normally use as much floss as my full crosses are...

Coverage on 28ct in my experience is more or less similar to coverage on 14ct; it just looks a bit different because the fabric looks different, if that makes sense. If a design has lots of fractionals, I would definitely go for evenweave as you don't have to pierce the fabric, but I know some people here are quite happy doing fractionals on aida.

I too don't like doing fractionals either, it seems an awful pain for something that sometimes doesn't turn out great, but you are doing a great job.

So Mabel could I still use 3 strands to get the coverage I want? Or would it kind of muffle the fractionals like it did in my strawberries?

Lovely strawberries
I have always found the coverage on 28ct using 2 strands was a little denser than 14ct but nothing to put me off using 14ct, and although I am happy doing fractionals on 14ct, it is always that bit easier if the fabric is not too stiff,having said that,I think fractional stitches are easier to make on 28ct fabric.

Corey, I have certainly used three strands for fractionals -- I always make my fractionals by doing the quarter stitch first, then the three-quarter stitch, and I didn't find them crowded, but it is to some extent a matter of taste. I would advise you to do a few fractionals on a scrap of evenweave, some using two strands and some using three, to see which you prefer.

I have done a lot of fractionals on Aida and sometimes it is a real pain. Anything smaller than 16 count can be difficult which is one reason why I am probably going to take the plunge to evenweave at some point. I like how they often make a piece look, but its hard to stab through the center of a square sometimes.

I'm so glad that my strawberries seem to be making everyone hungry. I can't wait to get home and finish the backstitching on this.
