newbie snowthorn

Post by snowthorn »

Hi
i am new to the forum and i have 2 things i am passionate about ,cross stitching and my dogs,
I have been fundraising for the last 3yrs since my grandson was born with half a heart and is under the care of Newcastles Freeman Hospital i stitch cards and the money from the sales goes to the hospital,i have had dogs in the show ring and become aware of the unwanted pedigree dogs that go through breed rescue and stitch dogs for them to sell here and abroad.
Just wondering if there are many others who like me love cross stitching i am at the moment stitching a batch of get well cards which will soon be heading to the hospital

Hi and Welcome snowthorn,

What a lovely name, snowthorn.

I stitch cards occasionally, used to do a lot more at one time but too many of my (5)kids are turning 50 and I seem to be forever rushing against the calendar. No doubt soon their wives/husband will start the merry go round again.

I trust your grandson is progressing ok

Hi snowthorn! What a great idea to raise money for charity. I had been trying to work with a local rescue on making some coasters, but they ended up getting shut down. So I hope to get going with another rescue to make some things for fundraising. We also adopted a dog from them. What breed of dogs did you show? Have you found a good batch of stitchable dog patterns? I have the Luvable Pets book and a couple others that I've used.

Hallo and welcome from South Africa! I love crossstitching, in fact only craft at the moment. We have a rescue dog and 2 rescue cats. I work in NICU, so know the stress you have with your grandson. Everything of the best!!

Welcome! I think you'll soon realise how many cross stitchers are out there!

Another one that is a bit dog mad! On my first date with hubby I told him I planned to become a mad old dog lady, with 13 dogs, but we are only up to 2 so far, although I manage to sneak foster dogs in when his back is turned. Never mind frogging, I seem to spend ages picking dog hairs out of my work!

Glad your grandson is doing well. It is amazing what the doctors can do nowadays, and I think the 'special' children get outstanding treatment. My granddaughter (now 4) goes into hospital in a couple of weeks to have her hips sorted out. She has spina bifida and is paralysed from the waist down, but they work on her in the expectation that medicine will find a cure and have her walking!

I have a basset hound and half basset/beagle (bagle). I love bassets! I'll have to discuss charts with you some time.

Glad to hear your grandson is doing well after surgery!
