Also, for Mabel, a closeup of the Strawberries, over which I suffered. I had wanted to use trellis stitch and detached buttonhole, but found it impossible to do either stitch neatly (or convincingly) with a single silk thread. I would have needed thicker thread, which I didn't have time to buy, or finer cloth... oh, dear. However a solution did present itself, once I realised

that I was dealing with blackwork: they have been completed using padded satin stitch and two different blackwork fillings. Simple, really. You can also see the other blackwork, from Holbein's portrait of Jane Seymour. (And yes, picture is sidieways.)
