You seem to be stitching quickly, and it is definitely about the love of stitching. I often feel at the end of a large piece "Wow, did I really do all of that myself?"

For your pictures, check your camera settings, and try and get a good light on the subject. Sometimes the flash will make the colour seem funny, but if you have a good light then your pictures should turn out better.

You're doing very well! :applesauce:

It is a beautiful update and not slow at all. But since you say you really want to get to the baby of course it is going to seem slow to you. :) :applesauce:

I love the design you've chosen and you're making good progress with it.
I'm a very slow stitcher and sometimes I get a bit frustrated that I'm not getting more done but then I just remind myself that it's not a race, it's about having fun :)

You're doing a great job on your first 'real' cross stitch project. :applesauce:

Take your time and enjoy it. Don't feel that you have to rush. :D

Thanks, everyone, for all of the encouragement. I had held off updating because I thought that I wasn't making enough progress to warrant a new post, but then I looked at my old pictures, and I've actually done quite a bit. I feel accomplished. :)

I took these pictures in natural light, with no flash, but I live in a constantly-overcast area, so they could still be better. I am on a mission to master my camera.

Here is my leopard:

And here is something new:

The second photo is of my first HAED, started because they were on sale over Fathers' Day weekend and I have no self-control. I wanted something a little smaller that I could work on while on break at my job, and the PP chart in "Dream Butterfly" was so pretty, I couldn't resist. http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index. ... ts_id=1811 I kitted it up and started stitching about a week and a half ago, I think. This is one-over-one on 28-count evenweave.

:applesauce: for the leopard. You have really done quite a bit there and it is looking very good.
:applesauce: for the butterfly. That is a beautiful design. I am looking forward to seeing the progress. Did you do the grid yourself? I am debating whether or not to grid when I start my first HAED. Never did it before so I'm not sure about it. Need to find where to get the pen or pencil for it too. but regardless, you have made a lovely start on yours.

I gridded it myself using an inexpensive blue pen I bought at Joanne Crafts. The tip of the pen is slightly too wide for the fabric I am using, so some of my lines look wobbly, but I've found it to be really, really helpful while I stitch. I can count the blocks to check that I am in the right area, then count more carefully to check that all of my stitches are in the right place - plus, my fabric no longer looks so empty and intimidating.

they don't have them at the Michaels near my house. At least not in the Cross Stitch section. I guess I'll try AC Moore and check at Walmart. They don't have cross stitch supplies at Walmart anymore so is it just in the crafts section in general that I need to look?

thanks,

Carole

Rcperry, Try the regular fabric section at WalMart, make sure to get water soluble. Clover seems to be a good brand from what others have posted. I just started on a gridded project myself last night and I can tell it is going to be so helpful!

Great progress on the leopard! :D
