I've been working on this chart since I came back to this forum. I used the KG LE Chart program. I'd like to upgrade to maybe PC Stitch as soon as possible, KG doesn't show true stitch colors and that makes it hard.
Anyway, I've put the grid on my fabric and started stitching tonight. I didn't really do the grid right (my first time) but it's working.
Particulars:
18 ct. Aida
Jungle background in half stitches, 1 thread
Tiger & borders in full crosses, 2 threads
131 w x 154 h
Finished size: 7 1/4" w x 9" h

That is going to be really lovely. Can't wait to see it. Those blue eyes are really striking.

I've started the background in half sts with 1 thread. Do you think I should have used two? It's not too late for me to go back over what little I've done.
I want the background to be lighter, just not sure of the best way to do it. I would appreciate your opinions. Thanks!
I have done several pieces where the design called for the background to be 1/2 stitches, sometimes with 1 strand, sometimes 2. I think it depends on how much you want to emphasize the main picture. I think what you are doing will work fine.

I worked one color for a while and started another and I couldn't tell the difference in them and got very lost. I started thinking about re-working the colors and just wanted to cry.
Then I thought if I used two strands instead of one, the color differences might show up better. So now I'm going back over the first color and see if that helps. But if I have to re-work some of the colors I'll do it.
EDIT: PC Stitch Pro 9 is on it's way!!! If I have to re-work the chart, I'll use that.
This project is an ugh! The background is too dark and the colors are too close. I did half the first page (upper left corner) and there is no definition in the trees.
I'm going to have to make a decision. What do you all think - should I scrap the background? Do you you think it would look better without it? Should I redesign the colors so there is more definition? Maybe I should forget about trees and make the background all camouflage like the bottom part of it.
Personally, I love the background. It makes this really unique. I also love the combo of trees and camouflage. I vote for a redo on the colors of the background for more definition. Sorry you're having troubles. Sometimes the creative process is kind of painful, but worth it.
If you could post a picture that would help. Getting the colors right can be tricky, which is why I have put the project of my grandson's picture in the UFO file for now. Have to rework his skin tones because he will look totally sunburned if I don't.
Hope you can figure it out, because I think it will be a lovely cross stitch when finished.

I've been trying to upload a pic for the past half hour. Apparently my 'repaired' computer is rejecting my camera and no amount of reinstalling the driver is helping.
