Thank you all. The feedback and encouragement is so important.
Since there is so much black right now it does go a little faster. The chain has a lot more confetti than it looks like, but working in the 10 x 10 squares makes it more manageable. This is different than how I have stiched even some of the really complicated (I thought) designs I have done in the past. Partly because of the confetti, but mostly I think the difference is between 18 ct aida and 25 ct evenweave. Counting would be almost impossible for me without grids. but I think I am severely hooked.

:applesauce: Very cool! Starting to see some detail, that means it's time for happy dance  (at least that's what I do when I can finally see the picture in my stitching, but I might just be weird :D )

Congrats on page 2!! :applesauce: I think I would have to have a break after all that black, I'm currently in a similar situation with my superstitions chart but its all 939, may as well be black! I have completed page 1 but I just had to have a break and work on something else for a bit as it seemed downright endless...how do you keep your motivation up?

Hi there.
Fabulous progress so far, it's looking wonderful :applesauce: , especially now there's a bit more colour coming through.
I've bought 2 HAED carts but haven't got round to starting them yet - I'm going to be strict with myself and finish what I've already started first! However, I've been doing a bit of research into pregridded fabric and found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank
I'll definitely be buying some of that when the time comes. One of the charts (Trio)calls for 27 skeins of black, so I guess I'll be going stir crazy when I get that far. I managed to find a cone of black DMC on ebay - it worked out far cheaper than buying individual skeins.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DMC-CONE-BRAN ... 48416268b8" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

Good luck with all the black and it's looking great!!

All the best
Jo x

WOW 27 skeins beats my 25. I will have to go check out the one you picked. Trio ? What is the other one?

Carole
:D
ps
Did just check out Trio. That is going to be beautiful. When you are working on the black background make sure you come to the forum for encouragement. It helps a lot.

Rhyme and reason. I'm itching to get them started but you know how it is - too many projects, too little time!! :?

I posted links to ebay in the UK without realising you were in the US, sorry :( . I did an ebay search for 25 count DMC magic guide and it found the fabric I was looking for. I guess postage to the US from UK would be really expensive for fabric, but having it pre-gridded has to be the answer.

Good luck with the black - you're doing great!!

Take care

Great progress!! You're very brave to work on all that black, but you do have the QS' to break up the monotony. The chain looks excellent!
