Care Bears project

Post by Aesandre »

Hello,

Some of you may have read my thread in the Introduction section, in which I said that my Care Bears project was the one I least enjoyed doing. However, since this is the smallest one I have and most of the colours are in blocks, I've decided to try and complete this one first. Not only do I have 4 others on the go and another one to begin, today my best friend gave me a chart that her grandmother had used, as I had seen the finished result on her living room wall and had admired it for years.

So, the Care Bears should look like this: Image

As of last week, it looked like this: Image

I've tried to get cracking this week, and so far it looks like this: Image

I'm going through my DVD collection in alphabetical order while I'm stitching. At the minute, since I've just started, I'm watching Allo Allo. I hope to have finished the project by the time I get to Vicar of Dibley!

I watch mystery dvd's mostly when I stitch. Old tv shows mostly which I never watched before and lots of British mysteries too. That and listening to audiobooks, though I have been a bit lax there. I didn't love allo allo but The Vicar of Dibley is one of the funniest British comedies ever. My husband and I loved the surrounding characters. I guess depending on how large your collection is how fast you will have to stitch.

Oh yes, you are doing a great job on the Care Bears. :applesauce: They are really precious.

Care bears!! Cool! Sorry it's a chore for you though.. At least the background is in half stitches. that should move things along quicker

How awesome that you're doing Carebears. Theyre all so cute. Where did you find this adorable pattern? What company makes it? It may have to be added to my list.

Also I like the idea of watching all your movies while you stitch. I find, for me, it has to be something Ive seen before or I won't get much stitching done.

I found the pattern in my local craft shop, I was just browsing and came across it. There's another Care Bears kit which is larger and has my favourite bear, Grumpy Bear, but the shop only had this smaller one (10 x 12"). It's made by the DMC company. I've found a website which sells it but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link on here.

I have over 200 DVDs to watch (from Allo Allo to CSI and House, to The Simpsons and all the Star Trek series), plus all the Discworld novels on audiobooks to listen to, so I'm sure I'll be well entertained!

It's looking great, it's a really sweet design too  Hope you enjoy going through your collection (Vicar of Dibley and the Discworld audio books, good choices!)

I hope you can get finished before you get to "Vicar". I did enjoy Allo, Allo, but not as much as my dad does, it cracks him up and he'll quote it for days if we watch an episode. BlackAdder has always been my favourite. :)

Great start on the Care Bears and I hope you can get through it fast since you're not enjoying it as much as some of the others.

Greetings all, here's my weekly update :)

Image

I've been using a particularly vicious needle and have pricked my finger half to death. I've tried to use a thimble but it keeps getting in the way so I've decided to grin and bear it (pardon the pun!).

I'm up to the second half of season 5 of Allo Allo, so I've not done too badly time-wise. Only another 4 and a half bears to go! :)

Tiffstitch - tell your dad I said "Good moaning" ;)
