Help, Mabel: a silk query

Post by Serinde »

Do you have any idea if there is
1. A DMC to Soie Perlee conversion chart?
2. What the relationship between the soie perlee numbers and soie d'Algers numbers might be?

 my brain hurts

Serinde, the Soie d'Alger shade card I've got (well, a pdf version), says that there is a separate shade card for Soie Perlee, Soie Surfine and Soie 100/3, but doesn't say where to get it  I can't find it on their website.
Needle in a Haystack do a good range of Soie Perlee with clear photographs here but I understand that's no substitute for a shade card :-( and the only conversion tables I can find are between DMC and Soie d'Alger.
I'll keep looking!

The Needle in a Haystack photos are pretty good, and very useful. I'm thinking of a choice between 106, 650, 664 or 779 for reds but the greens are proving difficult -- a choice: 271, 620, 659, 700, or 715. Can't really get them all. Maybe I should try and buy a shade card...

I have a sneaking preference for a different red altogether, 681. But it depends what you think is most authentic/suitable/attractive for your particular design, of course.

And 656 is a lovely green, though perhaps a bit too dark for your purpose?
