Spider Banner

Post by mauveme »

Well, I,m batting 1000. First I have lousy fabric and now I have a lousy chart. One I paid $18 for as well. I checked the gauge of the chart and it equals 20count fabric. And I am using 16 count.!! The problem is that the symbol for the white is so faint that I can hardly see it. The others three colours are not as bad but it is still so small. You would think for that price the chart would be legible (or am I asking too much  )I have done another one of hers and it was great. I am doing 1 over 1 on 16 count. Going to look like lace. :)

Does enlarging the chart help? I hate when the symbols are either too small or similar to each other that I need a magnifying glass to see what they are. Sometimes just enlarging the chart will help. What you have done is so pretty now. It really looks like lace already. :applesauce:

What a beautiful start! It is so very elegant looking. It's a shame about the chart--especially given the cost of it!! I think that Carole's suggestion is a good one--other than maybe contacting the designer?

Very pretty and lacy - and I was going to suggest getting the chart enlarged, too! The copier can also darken it for you to make the symbols stand out better.

My printer doesn't enlarge and there is no where I can get that done around here as the shop I used to use went out of business.
I contacted 123 stitch to let them know and contact the designer. I have used her charts before and had no problems like this.
The rest of the symbols (all three of them :D ) are quite dark and darkening the chart makes it muddy.

Great start on it! Sorry the chart isn't the best one out there, hopefully the designer will fix it!

I contacted 123 stitch because I thought they should know and they hopefully will allert the designer. They offered to replace my chart with another or credit my care but it is a gift for a friend who collects spiders. (apparently in Germany they are considered good luck on a Christmas tree). So I will plod on. Once the white is finished it should be easier as the other colours are easier to see.

Would one of those large flat magnifiers help? I saw them for sale at Michaels. They are made to be placed directly on the chart.
Once the difficult white part is done, you'll enjoy it much better. But in spite of your troubles, it does looks great. :applesauce:

Very pretty!
So sorry about your chart. I wish there were a way I could help, luckily my printer/copier will enlarge.

Do you have a scanner? Could you scan it to your computer and enlarge and then print a working copy that way??

I don't have printer ink at the moment so I will just slug along with it. I really like how it's turning out. Cant wait to get to the spider at the bottom..

Finally had a good run on this. Mind I had a 15 min panic attack when the bottom point wouldn't meet up. Found it and only had to frog 5 stitches. Thank God.
It is really pretty, really like it now. Going to try to find a little silver or pewter fly charm for the middle of the web. (just an idea)

:applesauce: That is so pretty and I'm so glad you only had to deal with 5 stitches. I'm sure that was one awful moment or two when things didn't meet properly. You are doing a lovely job. I think a little fly charm or something like that would be so clever for the middle, though it certainly isn't going to need it.
