HAEDs are time consuming but so far I'm finding my first one easy enough. Been at it 3 and a half weeks and haven't finished the first page yet though  I blame the confetti.

They may take a little longer, but if you look at quite a few other designers who have a lot of fractional stitches (1/2 and 1/4 stitches especially) and back stitching and blended threads, an HAED is really not that much more complicated. Still, it does require perseverence. I found that having a rotation (which I had never done before) really helps too, especially if a design calls for a lot of one particular color for background.
But even if you don't do them, they are just fantastic designs to look at.

What is confetti?

They are amazing designs so many beautiful ones! So looks like you stitch in squares? like do one entire line no matter the color? How do you keep untangled?

Confetti is where you've got a very small number of stitches of one colour. The bit I'm doing on mine at the moment has me changing colour ever couple of stitches or finishing and restarting the same colour somewhere else to avoid having to stop and start so much

I don't do one entire line no matter the colour. I stay with one colour for a while and will stitch whatever I can easily find of it. No different from what I do with any other chart really.

This Glossary is really helpful. I bookmarked it so that I could easily get to it when I first joined the forum and still go back periodically when a term or expression or abbreviation is not one that I am familiar with. After a while, you get used to knowing the terms so well, that you forget that everyone doesn't know them also. There are also some good threads about stitches and fabrics that are in the Tips and Tricks section which I refer to also. I didn't have a clue what a HAED, confetti or frog (ripping out threads which sounds like ribbit and therefore is a frog)was when I joined. And there are lots of others that I am learning about too. Hope the Glossary helps.
