Re: Shakespeare Sampler
Sorry that your Shakespeare Sampler has become a UFO - it was such a cool piece. I have only ever backed my stitching with interfacing when I have finished it (when making cushions) - so I can imagine what a nightmare it must have been to stitch through it! On the plus side you get to start a new project - look forward to seeing it

Re: Shakespeare Sampler
The sampler key says,"Design Area 18HPI (36-count evenweave) 58X37.5cms (23x14 3/4in)"
Does that mean 18 holes per inch and that it can be done on 18ct aida? And if so, how many strands of cotton would you use?
I really love this design.

Re: Shakespeare Sampler
Hope Lizzie doesn't mind me answering your question - yes you are right 18HPI = 18 count aida (equivalent to 36ct evenweave stitched over 2) - I use two strands of thread on 18ct - but go with whatever you think looks best and suits your stitching style!dalronix wrote:The sampler key says,"Design Area 18HPI (36-count evenweave) 58X37.5cms (23x14 3/4in)"

Re: Shakespeare Sampler
Just bought a copy of the magazine direct from the publisher which worked out AU$5.00 cheaper than buying one of the two cheapest copies for sale on eBay.
I love saving money.

Re: Shakespeare Sampler
I'm sorry to hear it's not working out.
Better to stop now, if there's a problem, though. I'm just going to do mine on regular linen, as usual, when I get to it, which will be sometime in this century.

What a shame it's not working out, it's such a lovely piece. Hope you'll come back to it some time in the future!

Re: Shakespeare Sampler
I might try removing the interfacing where I haven't stitched yet, then finish stitching the sampler and then replace the interfacing where I'd removed it from and see if the difference between the areas where the stitching goes through the interfacing and where the interfacing has been removed and replaced is obvious. Does that make sense? Sounds a bit confusing to me even though I know what I mean!
Either way, I'm really enjoying the Lioness Profile so I'll stick with that for now.
