How do YOU set your eyelets?

Post by Zeb »

I've been looking at the various eyelet setters out there and was wondering how you set your eyelets on your craft projects, most especially on fabrics?

Slowly building up my tool set for finishing my cross stitch, and I've always loved the look of eyelets through a stitched piece. I want to buy a tool that does the job properly and is easy to do!

Can't help but have the same question -- I was thinking of using eyelets to be able to "store" bits of stitching in a binder and have looked at several, but I am a bit reluctant to buy unless I know someone who has actually used them or seen them used and know that they work!

Have you tried a Crop-a-dile? I have one and they are fantastic. I've only used it on paper and chipboard, but it will cut through leather, tin etc.
Here's the link to the one that I have

There is a smaller version, but it doesn't reach very far. There is also now a Mark 3 version that does a lot more things besides eyelets, but the reviews for that one aren't very flattering!
Check out the videos on YouTube, you'll see just how fabby this is!

I have a silent setter for eyelets. You can put the eyelet wherever you want and it is easy and quiet to use. You need a good pressure to go through some fabric but as long as the hole making blade is sharp it does work fine.
Here is a link to the one I have.

That one is in US (to show price really)

This one is on auction on UK E-Bay
Worth the money for sure!!
I have heard about the crop-a-dile and I understand they are excellent if a little pricey.
