A tip!!!
So i found this by mistake LOL
I do not have any fray check and I hate having stiff tape on the edges of my fabric. I usually just leave it naked but on big projects it frays.
My Granddaughter had to go to the ER last night due to a BAD ear infection. I brought along my cross stitching to pass the time. Well there was a roll of cloth tape sitting there. It is an inch wide and very soft just like fabric. SO I used it to edge my fabric and it works perfect!!! it is like nothing is there It is just the right width so that it covers about 1/2 inch after you fold it over. And a roll would last forever!

Re: A tip!!!
sounds like a good idea, I don't think I would have thought about that even if it was right in front of me, lol. I surge my edges on my larger items, on my smaller items I just leave bare.
question, (for anybody who uses tape not just OP) doesn't taking the tape off make it fray??? I mean, wouldn't the stickiness of the tape pull the threads when you are taking it off??

Re: A tip!!!
There is enough extra room that if I have to I can cut it off. I do not know about taking the tape off
Re: A tip!!!
Yeah, I think that people who tape the edge cut it off once the work is done. So they measure a little extra on the sides for the tape.

I edge mine with masking tape and have never cut it off, but that's just because I'm lazy

I can beat both of you in the laziness stakes - I don't even get as far as tapingrcperryls wrote:makes two of us!BizzieLizzie wrote:I edge mine with masking tape and have never cut it off, but that's just because I'm lazy.

Re: A tip!!!
I use masking tape also, but I usually cut it off because of the bulk. I use tape because I'm too lazy to overcast or stitch. It seems to ravel pretty badly if I don't do something. I think it's funny that we all do things because we are "lazy", but we don't all find the same things too much trouble.
