Update! Sort of. Did a little work on the Wall piece, and got a good start on the Fox. I'm dumping the fox in here too for now, too lazy to start a new thread.

The Silver Fox is done on a scrap of Monaco 28ct I had left. Bought on sale I don't know how many years ago and I keep finding more projects for it. And I finally figured out how to use the split rail frame I got about the same time as the fabric. Some creative use of a toothpick and suddenly it works like a charm! Anyway



Look at all the solid blocks of color! It's a nice break for my eyes. And the colors are so shiny! 2 over 1, rather than 1 over 1 like the Wall. There's no coverage problems, which is good with all the dark parts. I'm glad I didn't do the other with the 2 though, because this is what the back looks like.



It's nearly as thick as the front! And with all the confetti it would end up nearly half an inch thick!



A little bit of progress. More to come.

Even with the small coverage problem with 1 over 1, I'm finding I really like the monaco. And I've been wondering, what's your guys' favorite fabric to use and why? Especially with HAEDs?

What lovely work! I love Alternate Reality. Wall is one of my favourites. Your backs although thick, are very neat. You should see my back! I cross country so its not pretty!!! As to your question, When I first started a HAED I did so on 25 count Lugana, Its lovely to stitch with, and I like it for something that has an enormous amount of detail, like the Dennis Lewan landscape I'm doing. My other two favourites are 18 count Aida, just cause its easy to stitch on, and for the ones that I want detail, but I dont' want to go blind with (like I may do by the time I finish the 25 count one) I prefer 22 count Hardanger. Sorry that was a rather long post! But there you have it!

After some sleep and reading the comments, I feel vaguely embarrased about showing my backs

I wouldn't be embarassed even vaguely. We had a thread several months ago about backs and I showed the backs of my afghans which I try hard to keep pretty neat, since it is easy for them to be seen since we use the afghans a lot (covering furniture which has been scratched - a whole OT issue). But the projects that I am doing now which will be framed, I am all over the place and those are the backs I am glad won't be seen. I think a neat back is something to be admired.
And far more importantly I think your stitching on this design is lovely and I love watching your updates and progress.

About half way through the second page and I have a question. I've never anything that was just solid stitching before and I'm worried about how dirty the fabric is getting. Will it wash out when I'm finished, or would the solid stitching trap the dirt and oil in and eventually discolor the threads? Should I wash it before I hit the dirty patches?
