What a coincidence, my daughter said the same thing, get a book on CD (or whatever) as she does when she drives back and forth to come home (4 1/2 hour drive). I did find a book and listened while stitching, it made the time seem to go faster.

I do have some time in the evenings for stitching, but all to frequently I seem to end up doing goofy things (cleaning my sock drawers and such!).

Sigh!

I understand that, there always seems to be something to get done and then it's time for bed. I hope you give the audiobooks a try.

And I have a question, I started doing the backstitch on the border but I don't know if I like it. I think I might like it without, so I would love to hear your opinions.

:applesauce: I love this one and you are doing a great job.
What is it you don't like about he backstitch? I'm one of the weird ones who tends to like backstitching and usually think it gives pieces a more "finished, sharper look", though I may be changing my ideas with the way all these HAEDs look. Is it just the outside border o r are you talking about the backstitch on the inside design of the border? I don't think it does as much for the inside actually, though I am going to guess that most everyone else will think it is needed there more, but for some reason I like the more subtle look of the border design in this piece. The problem is that it is really a pain to pull out those back stitches inside a design, though I have done that plenty. usually because of a mistake though.

Thanks Carole, I am fortunately. So annoying to get these and ruin days off, but I guess at least I can recover better when I'm not at work.

It was the inside backstitch I disliked. It almost seems like scribbling or something. The outside I do like. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Thanks for letting me know, and I think I will try and very carefully pull it out. It would save time too since this is supposed to be done by Xmas!

Hi Tiffstitch, love this project!!! It is coming along beautifully! :applesauce:
I agree, I would leave the backstitch off the inside of the border, I think it looks better without. It almost looks messy (NOT your stitching, just the placement of the backstitches! Your stitching is beautiful!) maybe because there seem to be a lot of almost curvy sections? I think it looks much neater and more elegant without the backstitch.

I totally agree with Kim, due to the curved inside border, the back stitching seems unnecessary. Also agreeing with Kim, your stitching looks fabulous!

I agree too - leave off the back stitching. It is easier to unpick backstitch from the back of the work I have found - you might like to give it a try Tiff.

Love that design though and the colours are so lovely. Great stitching too.

Tiff, I know what you mean about the backstitch. I like backstitch in some designs for the definiteion it gives, but what gets on my nerves is backstitch that goes across full cross stitches in order to make a rounded line -- I always feel I want to put in a lot of fractionals so that there aren't all thos bits of cross stitch sticking out :-)! Certainly the bit without the backstitch, though less "sharp" looks beautiful in its own right, and personally I prefer it. But in the end it comes down to what you think looks best, and what you will be happy to look at!

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your comments. You've said exactly what I felt about it, almost as if I was colouring outside the lines. Sally, I'll keep that in mind about taking backstitching out from behind, thank you for the tip!
