Hello all - does anyone here remember me? I've been away for years, mistakenly letting a health issue and my adult job get in the way of time for my hobbies. I've been lurking off and on the last year and trying to finish some old WIPs - so that I can begin new ones, of course! I will be updating all my old threads so that all you lovelies who encouraged me when I began can see my projects now. A HUGE thank you is due to you all for your encouragement when I was here - this community is just wonderful.

So, I finished what I intended to stitch on this tree - but I have lost all ideas about what to do for the blank area now. Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome!

What an awesome tree it is and such lovely colours. Does it really need something in the spaces either side I am wondering. If you feel you must put something there how about some names or perhaps some smaller trees way in the back ground.?

Beautiful :applesauce: :applesauce: I was curious and went looking to see if it was still listed on the HAED website but it must be a retired design. I did find it by "googling" and it looks like the background is what Sally suggested, lots of trees. I do wonder if it needs more though because it is so stunning against the white background. If it seems too bare to you perhaps you could add a few of the trees in the background or if not the ones in the chart, maybe some that are less bright, more background? Or perhaps do the background but in a 1 over 1 (if you had stitched it 2 over 1) or stitch the background in a tent stitch so you have a background but fainter? Hope that is making sense. I don't always do a good job of explaining what I mean.

I would not add any background at all. If you add anything the picture will lose the idea- the Heart. But then tastes differ.

That's stunning. I wonder, though, if filling that white space might make the design too heavy? Never be afraid of empty space -- I see it as part of the design.

This is so beautiful. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

It's such a lovely design, to my eye the blank space balances, however that's just my opinion, you must do whatever feels right for you.

That is one impressive tree! I think the blank spaces balance well, but perhaps they strike you as too white compared to the rest? You might consider filling with half stiches, of so - or if this is all half stitch anyway, and over one, perhaps half cross stitches over two for a lighter effect?
