Gridding

I have never used gridding. My mother didn't ever use gridding that I recall. However, between my new project being very complex and my eyes being older, I decided to use gridding. I was counting and sometimes, my eyes would blur causing me to miss my counts. I spent several hours gridding a portion of my project and started stitching with the grids. Oh my, it helped tremendously. I'm using a product that is nylon which keeps me from stitching into the grid lines. What a great invention!

Gridding is most helpful, especially for us ladies with older eyes. i've not used the nylon thread, just part reels of quilting cotton.

My eyes are old, like me, too. I gridded my first project last year and I used some nylon thread I had left from beading and it worked just fine. A friend of mine had terrible trouble as she just used sewing cotton and had trouble removing it.

I use the washable fabric pen and find that works very well. Can't grid on anything smaller than 25 ct, but I don't think I could stitch on anything that small either, though I would like to try tenting on 28 ct, but only if I can figure out how to grid.

I also use the washable pens, and it's a HUGE help, it speeds up the stitching, and cuts down on frogging (of course it doesn't prevent me from stitching with the wrong shade for days ). I love it!

I guess I'll try the pen next time. It would probably be faster. Gridding with the nylon (just on a part of my chart) was tedious. It certainly helps my 62 year old eyes though.

I used a fine tip washable marker and gridded a new piece I'm starting. It was very easy. I think I'll do the markers from now on.

i've gotten one of the disappearing markers to grid with. used it once and liked it.

only gridded the section i was working on during that session and by the next session, the marks were gone. no muss, no fuss.

each session felt like a new start. i like that feeling.
