Hello from Kansas

Post by jlongsta »

I recently joined the group. I live in Wichita, Kansas and am a department administrator at a medical school. I used to cross stitch and had not done it for a few years. I lost my mother a little over a year ago. She was an avid stitcher and completed many beautiful projects. I recently began cleaning, restoring and reframing several of her pieces and made me recall how much I enjoyed stitching. My daughter also is a cross stitcher and has completed some beautiful Disney designs. I decided to start stitching again. I have recently started a very challenging design. I love impressionist paintings and one of my favorites is Renoir's Girl with the Watering Can. I started it a few weeks ago and am enjoying the challenge.

Welcome to the group from Newcastle in Australia. Girl with the Watering Canis one of my favourite paintings too, I will love watching how your stitching of it goes. I wouldn't mindstitching that myself, but I had better weed down my pile of 'next in line' charts before I think of anything else LOL

Yes, I'm not sure how long the Girl with the Watering Can will take me. No hurry.... Here is one of my mom's works. She wasn't able to stitch the last few years of her life due to a brain disease. She did lots and lots of pieces during her life though.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Your project sounds lovely. It's a beautiful painting. Your Mom's work is very pretty too, and a wonderful rememberance of her. I have pieces of artwork and a needlepoint my Mom did too and remain in pride of place on my walls.

Those are lovely pieces that your Mom did. I have some of those charts and have never gotten to them and love when I see them so well done. Thank you for sharing them with us.
