Hi everyone
I'm fairly new to xstitch, having just completed a small project. The problem is I've went out and gotten myself four kits (GAH! What was I thinking?), and now school's started, which means an automatic ban on embroidery issued by my parents. My room is straight across to theirs, so if I keep my lights on and stitch away, they'll know. *headdesk* And will come barging in to bust me.
Does anyone know how I can stitch without being detected? I've tried changing my sitting location but every freaking comfortable area in my room is dangerous.
(I'm desperate to get these done by October for my grandma's birthday, fyi.)

Can't you work out a stitching time with your parents? It's a hobby and I'd think you could get all schoolwork done and still have an hour or two to stitch.

I would say be upfront with them and try to sort out some kind of stitching time like LadyS says.
Let them know that you really want to stitch these as a present for your grandma's birthday and explain how much you enjoy it. If you spend ALL your time studying, its possible that you will burn yourself out. If you can come to an arrangement, like say making sure all your homework is done and doing x amount of studying before you stitch, or limiting your stitching time to a couple of hours every 2 or 3 days.
Your parent's are more likely to consider working something out this way than if they catch you stitching when you shouldn't be. Show that you can be mature, and can keep on top of your studying and see what happens.

I agree with the ladies that have said to be honest. Let your parents know that this is to be a gift for your grandmother and that it is not goofing off time. There are ways to compromise without sneaking around.

I agree with what everyone else has said. Never good to try to be sneaky. My experience is that it always comes out and the consequences are usually worse, besides it just not being the right thing to do.

I too agree with the previous posts. Don't try to go behind their back. It'll just make things worse ... really. It would all come out anyway when you present your Grandma with the completed projects! You don't want your parents to think they can't trust you, do you?
Prove to them that you can finish your homework/studying properly and have enough time left over for your stitching.
