82 y.o. Mom needs help

Post by hdst03 »

Hi everyone - This is my last resort. I need help for my mother that is trying to finish a cross-stitch pattern that she started in the late 1980's. She has the paper and the printed pattern but the color picture that came with it is gone. I've looked all through the web looking for it but to no avail. She has Alzheimer's Disease and this helps her pass the time when she can remember doing it. I am really no help. I've never done cross-stitch.
It is from Dimensions, Inc. 1987 Pattern #3907 That is all I have as far as information. It is a picture of a house with a few dormers in some springtime trees. Really nice picture.
Does anyone have a good resource where I could print out the picture for her. I think this would really help her by seeing what the finished product is supposed to look like color wise.
Please help, Her son.

Have you tried emailing Dimensions and asking them to send you a picture of the final product? Most of us have found that the companies are happy to help us stitchers :)

yes yes contact dimensions directly - they are wonderful and have all of the old stuff on file. I was able to track down part of something I was missing from a pattern dated '76 They were fantastic! :) good luck

Do you have the name of the pattern as well as the number? This might help track it down - but I do agree that going direct to the company is probably your best bet.

Thank you all again. I have contacted the company and will let everyone know how it works out. Thanks again.

ps - No name of the pattern anywhere to be found, just the number. Hopefully Dimensions can help.

Thanks to everybody's suggestions. Dimensions is through Wilton Industries. I received the color picture and other things for her kit last week. My mother was delighted and this has really helped her to get back on track.

Thanks again.

One other question - She removed some of her stitches because they just didn't look right numerous times and actually wore a small hole (dime size) in the fabric. Can you suggest any quick fixes or how to repair it. Maybe another peice of cloth sewn in behind it?

You have guessed it right. Put another small piece of the fabric at the back - maybe tack it into place lining up the holes of course - and then stitch as usual.

?tacking - its a long running stitch which can easily be removed afterwards and the excess fabric trimmed away - but no too closely.

No doubt others will come in with suggestions.

So glad you have got the missing parts - Dimensions are very good like like that.
