Beautiful and I can well understand how sore your hand must have been. I had to give up doing cake decorating for that reason - my hands just wouldn't cope.

well done its a fabulous cake.

I'm impressed - you've done a great job with the icing. It's extremely hard to get nice colour in icing but you've nailed it. :D

I didn't realize this had been bumped up to the top. Thanks, y'all, for the wonderful comments!

I actually just made another cake for my other daughter's birthday. It wasn't as fancy though. She'd been sick the week before her birthday and I just didn't have time to plan one like I did for Big One's birthday. The blue and purple icing is store bought, but the rest is home made.

 It's Quinoa Vegetable Salad. My MIL is gluten free, so I had to come up with something that she could eat too. It's actually pretty good and easy to make.

Time to resurrect this thread because I've been at it again. Big One's birthday is tomorrow and we're having a fairy themed party for her. I decided that I'm not talented enough to give her fairies on her cake so I decided to do a fairy house instead. Other than a few problems with the icing melting while I was trying to work with it, I think it turned out pretty good. The flowers and butterflies are store bought as is the purple icing, but the rest is home made.

My writing still needs some work, but Big One is very happy with it.

Oh, and please disregard the messy kitchen in the background.

Thanks for looking!

What a fabulous cake and a great idea to do the toadstool/fairy house for Brenna.
I am sure she and the others coming to the party will love it. :applesauce: :applesauce:

Writing with icing is difficult - mine was often wobbly but the kids said they didn't mind it mad it "their cake"!!
