that is a lovely design. I will certainly be looking forward to your updates. Be warned though. This is likely to be the first of more.

Am planning out my conquest of Mr. Bansemers masterpiece (I just love the one painting of his that is his "avatar" on HAED's w-site; it looks like the Florida I know & LOVE!)
Looking at the floss useage chart....the very first one listed:
So, am I wrong in assuming that I COULD use DMC White OR the Kreinik Pearl? (or am I so far off base that I'm making y'all laugh your @$$'s off right now?)

Kreinik #4 is a very fine metallic bread. I have found it in several HAED charts. You can find it at 123 Stitch. If the link doesn't take your right there, then go to thread and you will see Kreinik #4 braid as an option. It gives some metallic sparkle to your piece. It isn't the easiest to use but I find it better than blending filament. There are some other brands though that forum members prefer, that I haven't tried yet, but I can't remember the brand names so you might want to wait and see if you get some other replies. If I remember it I will post back. If you don't want sparkle you could substitute white I would think.

As Carole says 032 is referring to Kreinik in that colour - for some reason it is always listed as a DMC even though we all know it isn't! I'm one of those that sub it for another brand - Rainbow Gallery's Petite TreasureBraid in PB10 - just because I always have it to to hand and prefer it.
You won't find aida in 25ct, it doesn't go up to that count, but you will find lugana in 25ct - it is an evenweave. You can stitch a HAED on any fabric you are comfortable with - I've done them on 18ct aida and 28ct Brittney - just remember if choosing a larger count of fabric the design will be bigger. Here is a fabric calculator which will help work out the size of fabric you need if you decide to change the count. There is a lot of info on the forum already about types of fabric for HAEDs - best advice is if you are unsure of a fabric to do some test stitching on different counts of fabric first so that you know you will be happy with it. Afterall you will be stitching on it for quite some time!

MMK, thank you for the info! I've only ever used aida cloth before...but if I'm gonna' tackle this booger, I want to learn evenweave (DID I REALLY JUST SAY THAT? )

You can find evenweave in lots of different counts. Mrs MBK's suggestion of testing the fabric first to make sure you love working on it is really a good one. I am doing HAEDs on 25, 22 and 18 cts. Don't love the 25, but mostly because I am doing 2 over 1 and find it a little bulky on that count. I'm doing 1 over 1 on the 22 cts and 2 over 1 on the 18 cts, all of which I prefer. I think 1 over 1 on 25 will be fine and have fabric to start another one (I can't believe I might actually start a few more - but then I'm nuts) and will do that. What is most important is that you do what works for you.

over 1. HAED almost always suggests 2 over 1 on 25 ct evenweave. There is everything on the Bulletin Board from 14 ct Aida to 40 ct linens, 2 over 1, 1 over 1 and full and tent (1/2) stitches being done. So I really think it is important to test fabric. I did 2 over 1 on my LOTR because the black 310 of which there is so much was too thin. Now I would switch to Anchor black which is a little bit thicker and do 1 over 1. Coverage isn't quite as perfect, but its easier to stitch. But that is my preference. You need to decide what will work best for youl 2 over 1 is done by a lot with less problem than I am having, but they may be using a different evenweave. I have no idea what mine is. Bought it at Michael's and it was in a DMC package.

Seems like HAED has a bit of things-everyone-knows, so it's not on each item. Just a little bit confusing to the newbie, but I'm thankful that I can come here & ask my silly ?'s.
Showed to dh & son said "Wow". Am wondering what I've gotten myself into (but in a GOOD way).
