Does anyone have a DMC shade card

That can help you change the colour in a picture using various shades into a different colour. Specifically I want to change Mirabilia's Stargazer from blue to purple.

I have no idea - but wouldn't it be helpful if they did? I'm not a Mira stitcher (though never say never, the designs are beautiful!) but I know that quite a lot of stitchers in blogland have altered the designs to suit their preferred colours and share their conversions. So someone somewhere must know how to do it.... :thinks:

ETA: There is a whole section dedicated to colour conversions on the Mira Yuku board here- don't know if something there may help?

I found this DMC color chart that might help, at least it would be a start.

They show the colours like that but they are grouped together.

My tapestry teacher had them. DMC gives them/sells them to retailers of DMC threads but I don't think you can buy them otherwise.

Effectively if you have shades of say red, you find reds on the card, then find your specific shades and they will match them to other colour shades so the shading and gradients stay the same, just the colour changes.

Anyway I don't go to tapestry often at the moment so I'm seeking another source.

I'll try the Mira boards, that's a good idea, thanks :D

Hi Myst
I have one of those. Got it a few years ago and not entirely sure it is fully up to date with new colours etc. It has been a life saver on a number of occasions.

I live in Rockhampton at the moment but will be moving back to Brisbane at the end of April and am happy to loan it to you. It is a bit weighty so postage might cost though. Will check it out at the PO if you like.

PM me and will see what we can work out

Cheers

You can buy the DMC shade card at http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran220-0.html" target="_blank - both a printed version and the version with the actual thread in. Also, you can get the colour card on the DMC website http://www.dmccreative.co.uk/Products/N ... oss+stitch" target="_blank though as they say, you're relying on the computer screen and printing not to distort the colours too much.

Ooohhh if you can buy them and they aren't too expensive, it would be worth having one. I'm on a mission now!

Janny if I have no luck I'll PM you. I may just need to give you three shades or so and have the correspondencing violets - Mirabilia doesn't generally use too many colours and the bulk of the design I'm happy with.

I picked this up at my LNS a couple of months ago and could look to see if they still have them tomorrow night if you would like me to send you one?

Only if it's not out of your way kimkat_tkl, let meknow how much they are. I'm trying to source them close to home and might save you the bother.

I go there every Thursday night (they hold a stitch and chat group) and I believe that they are a free brochure so it is not a problem.
