Advice on Railroading??

I was pretty lucky to stumble on this thread right before starting a huge section of 6 strand half stitches. I couldn't use my hoop cause it was close to the edge of my canvas and when my thread started twisting or stacking on itself I realized that I needed to railroad. It did take a bit longer but I am pretty OCD about my stitches so I didn't really mind. I am happy I did it cause my stitches look so much better. I just wish I had a 3rd hand to hold my work cause I need 2 hands to railroad.
