With this finish I'm now done with what I wanted to do for the month of April. I could do another one, work on something else, or not stitch at all for the rest of the month. I chose to start the next one. My stitching bug is working overtime on me and I want to take advantage of that as long as I can.

Here is my second Year of the Snake. It's on navy 14ct 2x1 full, as usual. I couldn't find my white marking pen and the blue doesn't show up at all so I had to stitch this one without grid lines. It was a little hard to get started and get to a point where I was confortable, but I did it. I might have had to frog maybe one or two half stitches for this whole project. I counted, recounted and counted again almost the whole time. Once I got the general shape of his head done things got easier.

Re: Chinese Zodiac-Year of the Dragon(2) finished

Here is my second Year of the Dragon. It's done on Jade 14ct Aida, 2x1 full. It was much easier to stitch than the first one because I think I had a better plan of attack. I think having done one before helped too. Although there was one square where I had to frog two different colors in that same square. I was beginning to think that square was a bermuda triangle for me. And I've painted my first frame so I guess I'll have to start a thread to show those off.

I'm now a 1/2 a month ahead of schedule, but I'm getting a little tired of 945 for the face and body of those little guys (even if they are cute). The next one should go fast and I could get it done by the end of this month, but I might want to take a break for awhile even if that would put me a full month ahead of schedule.

I can see why you'd get a little tired of the faces since they're so similar. Each one does look so cute. I still love the dragon the most since that's my year. :applesauce: Wasn't your other dragon on darker fabric as well? So maybe the lighter fabric helped too.

Just make sure you stitch how you want to.. you're supposed to be enjoying it. :)

Here's the next finish. Year of the Rat on light blue aida 14ct, 2x1 full. I have one more of these to stitch.

It's really easy to stitch up, except when I'm not paying attention. I was working horizontal through the face and at the ears I thought I had done one stitch too many on a row 3 rows down. I started frogging rows and got half way there when I realized that I had only missed one stitch on the 2nd row down (the row I was then frogging). I added the stitch and redid everything I had taken out and things looked much better.

I'm now a full month ahead of schedule so I'm going to take a break for awhile and stitch other things and concentrate on painting more frames. I have also finished 12 out of 22 so I only have 10 left to do.

:applesauce: These are so precious and you have it down to a science, which is probably why you missed a stitch. 10 sounds like a lot, but you are more than half done. Great job.

Who knew a rat could be so cute?!

Also, what color are the cheeks on these guys? I had to adjust the color I'm using for skin color on an old pattern & I think I'm using the same as these & will probably need to adjust the highlight color as well.

The skin color is 945 (I've use 2 full skeins already) and the check color is 963.
