branching out into stumpwork? Frozen Flower is gorgeous.

About your frame and the tautness of fabric. You might try lacing the sides to pull it tightly? I'm working on a 21" roller frame at the moment and it's a total nightmare because I can't get the fabric tight enough. It's a solution I'm going to try.

Thank you all -- for some reason this one was a bit of a struggle to keep working on, even though it isn't actually that much more difficult, and I did enjoy seeing the little white floating islands emerge :-)

At the moment I'm not stitching a lot, I seem to be too tired to pick it up in the evenings, but instead ido a lot of scribbling and doodling and so there are several designs in various stages of progress :-)!

One of the problems is holding my scroll frame. I greatly prefer flexi-hoops, or wooden hoops is I have to, but that wouldn't do for this project (and one or two others on my planned list), which is why I got this frame. But it is rather awkward to hold, especially as I don't want to put my hand on the top dowel (which is what I'd do instinctively) because I'd get the fabric all grubby :-(. I did think about those Qsnap covers, but then I had a brainwave -- do you know those disposable shower caps you get in hotel bathrooms? I could stretch one over each of the dowels and that should work! Found a pack of 10 on eBay for £1.74 incl postage, so I bought them and as soon as they arrive I will do some serious word on Fruit  !

I'm also trying to find the right threads for Odessa -- theones I originally picked are really a bit too pale, and also I'm not sure I've got enough of them (they're hand-dyeds), and you wouldn't want to run out half-way through

I haven't quite decided yet how to stitch the Papillon SAL -- I'd prefer a hoop, but I'd have to leave the beading till the end :thinks:

Anyway, no stitching at all this weekend as we're away playing with the old cars in what looks likely to be a very VERY muddy field!

Enjoy your time off from stitching. Sounds like a good time for a break until those shower caps arrive anyway.

Amazing as always.
Would you say you prefer Hardanger over cross stitch now?
I still remember you deciding to have your first go at doing hardanger and now you are producing such stunning designs.

:-D I know, I recently worked out that I've been doing Hardanger for less than 2-1/2 years now, but it feels as though I've been doing it forever -- it's really my sort of stitching. I do still like cross stitch, and I have a number of charts that I would like to do (like the Cat Hair one) ... the trouble is just finding the time  !

Jo, the shower caps arrived after we'd left, and anyway I doubt they would have stood up against the amount of water that descended on us over the weekend; you've never seen such an amount of mud, most of it distributed all over the cars and the drivers -- and, unfortunately, the scorer (me...). Good thing I didn't bring my stitching :-)

The shower caps are a papery type, not the plastic I expected, but for now they'll do. When I've used these up (I'll replace them as they get grubby) I'll scout around for plastic ones.

And here they are in action, with a bit more of Fruit -- I was slightly worried that the two shades I'd chosen might not go together stitched (it's difficult to tell when they're still on bobbins) but I think they do *phew*.

Oh, and here is a close up of one Gloriana silk perle Kloster block. It was taken on a miserable, grey day (today) without flash, and just look at the shine
