I am on a roll right now lol. I went to my nan and granddad's last weekend and wasn't able to work on my linen projects since the lighting was really poor so I was happy I packed the birdhouse I have been working on for I want to say three years now. It is called "Home Tweet Home" by Donna Vermillion Giampa in For the Loce of Cross Stitch from March 2001!
My mom finished the matching one to it back in 2001...here it is:
There was a third one but we agreed it didn't go very well with the other two so decided not to stitch it. It didn't have all of the same colors and would have stuck out like a sore thumb.
Here they are together:
Going to get them done in square frames we think, possibly a light purple mat to pick up the purples in the wood of the houses. Both were stitched on 18 count Aida.
How lovely they both are. And what fun it must be to have your mom as a stitching partner. Have you done other matching pieces?

thanks everyone! I absolutely love the colors in them! And I love how my mom and I made matching pieces even though she did hers in 2001 and I did mine a decade later!

And as for displaying....my mom gets them lol. My parents have a new house and still hardly anything on the walls...The only thing they have up right now is Paula Vaghn's wishing well cross stitching that my mom did in 1996.
What lovely pieces! I'm planning on stitching 2 birds and trying to make it look like they're kind of in a window frame. It's okay if you want to steal that idea.
