What is opalescent lugana? SHINY fabric??

You've got it, shiny fabric! It's fabric with metalic thread woven into it giving it a nice shiny look to it.

It's Lugana (I think only in 28ct and possibly 20ct) with a pearlescent metallic thread woven into it -- NOT that ghastly spray on stuff that spreads itself all over your hands and clothes

The opalescent fabrics(28 Lugana) are really pretty but a cow to work on.That's just my opinion.For some reason the addition of the opalescent thread seems to split the Lugana.I did Miras Tatiana on Amentrine opalescent and am now stitching JE's Peacock lady on Stitches and Spice Peacock Majesty and cursing all the way.There's a pic of Tatiana on my Webshots.

I'm not as frustrated with the fabric as Stitchinkitty, but yes it does "split" the fabric thread a bit so it is easy to put your needle trhough the fabric thread instead of the hole -- it definitely needs a bit more concentration but oh boy it's pretty

I'm prepared to concentrate using this fabric -- I love lugana anyway, in any thread count -- but the opalescent is fabulous for special pieces, Christmas or anniversaries, were a bit of subtle bling is the order of the day.

Like most things.. what takes a little more effort is worth it in the long run.. I used it for my Spring Fairy and looooove how it came out
