Chart question: When a square is divided in 2 diagionally...

Hi everyone!
When a square is divided in 2 diagonally with a different symbol on either side, what do i do? An X over 1 on either side?

You do either a quarter stitch or a three-quarter stitch on each side.

The charts are not always clear when it comes to fractional stitches. Sometimes the symbols are so small they are hard to see. The explanations are poor too.
I've noticed a lot of posts here on the forum about fractionals and the confusion they cause.

Designers. . . please take note.

I agree JA, it can be very confusing. One chart I have has four symbols in one square, never quite decided what to do there other than four quarter stitches which was hell of a faff and why the project is a UFO!!

Another chart has four symbols in one square, two being White squares, the other two being colour, a chart where there are only colours not actual symbols. Took me ages to realise that this meant two 3/4 stitches (as I do them) or s 1/4 and a 3/4 if that is how you do them!!
