DMC threads in London

Post by Oricat »

Hi, I am a new one on this site. I moved to UK only a month ago and I could not find the store where I can buy DMC threads. Can you help me with addresses?
Thank you all.

Hi and welcome

Most of us in the UK get our threads from online shops. Across Town is good for bulk buys of DMC. Or http://www.sewandso.co.uk" target="_blank will invariably have stock if you just need the odd thread and they delivery quickly.

If you want to go to a store, I think Liberty's on Regent Street in London used to stock a full range of DMC, but I haven't been there for a few years now so not sure whether they still do.

You say London, but that covers a lot of area. There are probably several branches of Hobbycraft in some of the retail parks. And the different areas may well have small shops with stitching supplies. You can also try John Lewis and other department stores but they really do vary in what they stock. If you see a charity shop it could be worth asking the staff there. They are generally local volunteers who will know the area. Good luck. Threads are generally cheaper online though.

Welcome to London!!!! I work in the centre of London and it's a fantastically vibrant place.

If you only need one or two skeins and you need them urgently (e.g. you've run out of a colour and can't carry on stitching without it), then Hobbycraft is great. However, it is very expensive and I always buy my DMC skeins online, usually from Across Town Stitching: http://www.across-town-stitching.talktalk.net/" target="_blank. If you go to the offers page, you can find some good deals on orders of 50, 100, 150 and 200 skeins. Hope that helps.

Thank you all for your help! I have seen some information about Hobbycraft, but I did not found the threads. I live in Hounslow and only have Anchor threads around.

fiddlerthank you for that information, that price suites me very much as in Tallinn I was usually buying all my threads with such price. Here prices are much bigger than in my home town.

Hi Oricat. If it helps, you can see a list of some cross stitch shops in the London area on this page: London cross stitch shops. The phone numbers are listed, so you can always ring them before visiting.
