karen4bell's river rambler finished August 14th

Post by karen4bells »

I instantly fell in love with this design when I first saw the picture of it and had to add it to my must do list. It's River Rambler by Leslie Teare from issue 212 of Cross Stitch collection.

Here is the picture of what it will look like completed

Image

And here is a picture of my progress on it--loads of gray so far, but it is stitching up quickly

Image
I'm stitching it up on a nice hand dyed fabric called surf and it is an 18 count aida.

This is going to be lovely when it's finished. The cloth is such a pretty shade of blue-green.

Beautiful! I stitched a large heron several years ago for a friend's wedding. Lots of grey but well worth it once you're done. :)

Thanks, I'm still adjusting to my new pc and missing having photoshop elements to edit with--hope to purchase that soon, so in the meantime, I'm using tools in windows 7 in addition to a free photo editing program to try and capture the true colors of the fabric etc.
Wandatoo, this is a relatively small design, 131 x 111 stitch count, so the bird itself isn't going to be very large. That being said, there is great detailing in it--and the best thing is, there really isn't going to be a lot of backstitching in it. This is definitely going to stitch up much quicker than Sleeping Beauty did

:applesauce: Great start. I love the design and the fabric. I've stitched a few Great Blue Herons and love them. I am especially fond of these birds as we have one that hangs out in the creek behind the house. That is one of the prettiest designs I have seen.
I think the purple flowers against the green fabric is going to be beautiful. Can't wait for the next update.
